That depends.

There should be two red power wires on the back of an aftermarket deck. One will be 'constant' power, the other will be 'switched' power.

The 'constant' one always has power, so that radio stations and other settings aren't erased when the vehicle is turned off.

I'm assuming you're not using an adapter harness to connect the aftermarket deck directly to the GM radio harness.(always the preferable option)

Most of the time(when not using an adapter harness) I will locate a pre-existing wire in the dash that is 'constant', and tap into that for the 'constant'.

The 'switched' power can be connected to the factory radio's 'switched' power source. You'll have to figure out which wire that is in the GM harness and connect to that, or (not so ideally) cut that wire and connect it to the deck.

Needed: Phillips screw driver, FORD Din removal tool.

Disconnect the negative battery cable (or grounding cable) from the battery of the Ford Edge. The grounding cable is the black cable that connects the Ford's battery to the chassis or frame of the vehicle. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to loosen the bolt on the cable's clamp. Remove the clamp from the battery's negative lead post.

Insert the Ford DIN removal tools into the face of the stereo. There are two holes vertically aligned on either side of the stereo's face.

Pull outward on the DIN tools (away from each other) and toward you, pulling the stereo from the dash.

Disconnect the wire groups from the rear of the stereo. The groups are for the antenna, speakers, amplifier and power supply. There also may be connections for an equalizer, a satellite radio receiver or an iPod or MP3 player.

Reconnect the grounding cable to the Ford Edge battery. Place the cable's clamp around the negative lead. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to tighten the clamp's bolt. The clamp needs to be tightened so that it cannot be moved around the battery's lead post by hand.

Yes, that is one use, but the main use of broadcast radio is for entertainment and information. Radio is also used for private communications such as between ships or aircraft, and of course your "mobile" (actually portable) telephone is a radio transmitter / receiver.

and 108 MHz. That's where they all are on the dial. If you want to listen to FM radio,

that's the whole range that you need.

to the power terminals and verify the appearance of 12 volts DC there when the radio

-- If no volts there, then the problem is wiring, or a fuse, or the motor-output-voltage

from the radio.

-- If volts are there but the antenna doesn't raise, then the motor is shot. Replace it,

or pull the antenna up and leave it up, like the commoners do.

-- If you can't access the motor connections, or you don't have a voltmeter available,

then you'll have to send the whole thing back to Sweden for service.
