Except for 'public' stations, every radio station is owned by an individual or a business

group. The purpose of owning and operating a radio station is to make money, by selling

a product to a customer.

The seller is the owner of the station. The customer is the advertiser whose commercial

announcements are aired on the radio. You, or at least your ears, are the product sold.

The music, news, sports, traffic, weather, and chatter are the bait that keeps your ears

there to hear the commercials.

There's nothing wrong with this. It's the American way. But you should be aware of it
