When you got home from shopping you forgot to put the pork shoulder in the refrigerator It stayed out until 6 am the next morning Should you throw it away?

That is not a good scenario. I'd say that it should be tossed out. You'll ultimately be the one who decides what to do with it. you are supposed to heat the meat very well which kills bacterias, but i do think that if you can throw it away you should because bacterias start to double each time the meat is left out.

Can you keep a thermos in the fridge?

I wouldn't see any reason why you couldn't keep a thermos in the refrigerator. Pre-chilling containers for cold beverages is a good idea anyway. ====== ======

Can you move a refrigerator with food?

That depends how far you want to move it. If you are just pulling it out to clean around it, you can leave the food in it.

If you need to move it a distance, I'd recommend emptying it. Containers inside add considerable weight and could shift causing spills and damage.

How long does smoked meat steaks last out of the fridge?

In general, smoked meat steaks, or any food for that matter, should not stay out of the fridge for more than 4 hours. This is because foods that sit at room temperature are in the Temperature Danger Zone (TDZ for short), which ranges from 41oF to 135oF. Since the average room temperature is between 60oF and 72oF, room temperature foods have a much higher chance of collecting germs that will grow in the food (like a smoked meat steak) than if it is left in the fridge, which has an average temperature of 25oF to 34oF, which is outside the TDZ.

Refrigerator left open for 2 days is the food from freezer bad?

That depends how warm the food got in the freezer. If it didn't get above 40°F, it is probably safe. If the food is all thawed out and warm, throw it out. If you are unsure, don't eat it.

I think the number is close to 500 million. This is based on refrigerator production which in 1996 was close to 10M a year. Taking average household size of 4 (3 adults, 1 child) times 10M times 15 years gives 600 million.

How long can you keep prepared steak in the fridge?

How do you clean the water line leading to your ice maker?

If you have an internal water filter such as a whole house water pic water purifier, turn off the water supply to the house, then take the cannister off and remove the filter cartridge. After emptying the cannister fill it with regular unscented Clorox bleach. Put the cannister back on (without the filter cartridge) filled with bleach and then turn the water back on. Remove all facet screens throughout the house and run the water. Continuing running the water at all facets, toilets, etc until the bleach smell is gone. You will be SHOCKED at the crud that comes out of the lines. You water pressure will improve greatly and the quality of water will improve. Make sure you remove all screens from facets first or they will clog up instantly. It also helps if you simultaneouly drain the hot water tank from the bottom (with a hose and a floor drain). This will improve the life of your hot water heater and give you hotter cleaner water. After all this is done put a fresh filter in your home water filter system. You'll thank me a million times. This should be done quarterly especially if you have well water.

You bought a package of vacuum sealed roast its been in the fridge but the seal has broken air in bag dont know how long is the meat ok use by date good for another week?

Whether or not you use the meat is up to you. The conditions of storage and handling are unknowns, so no one else can say if the meat is good. All you can do is go by smell, appearance and texture.

The best recommendation would be for you to return it to the store of purchase. The packaging failed, which it should not have done. If the store won't take it back, then contact the manufacturer.

How close can an oven be to a refrigerator?

Most appliances are very well insulated these days, however any heat from the oven will make the refrigerator work harder to maintain the right temperature. It's best to keep a cupboard or another appliance like maybe a dish washer between them. Ideally, they would be on different sides of the kitchen.

Why do you store bread stocks in a freezer?

Freezing bread will pretty much stop the growth of mold and the process of staling. Very cold temperatures (below zero degrees Fahrenheit) are best. There is some slow degradation of the bread due to enzyme activity, but frozen bread will keep for a very long time.

Do NOT store bread in the refrigerator, however! Starch in fresh-baked bread is in a gel-like state. Bread gets hard when it stales not because it's drying out, but because the long starch molecules are gradually binding to each other and forming a hard matrix. This process happens fastest at around fifty degrees Fahrenheit, which is about the temperature of most people's refrigerators, so storing bread in a refrigerator is one of the fastest ways possible to make it go stale. The staling process also uses water, so avoid excess moisture inside the bag used to store your bread.
