it's a safety feature that automatically locks the doors when the car reaches 5 m.p.h.

There could be lots of reasons. Here are a few I can recall at the moment: * A "blown" fuse [usually caused by a "short circuit]. * A short circuit. * A disconnected ground. * An "open" circuit [cut or broken wire, or a connector which has come apart]. * A defective horn switch [broken or burned out]. * A defective horn [out of adjustment or burned out]. There probably are a few more that I have overlooked.

The VIN/chassis number on a 1998 Renault Megane can be found at the following locations: Stamping: on the offside suspension turret under bonnet. (Looking from front of car towards the rear, it will be on the left hand side near the hinge) Plate: Driver's (offside) door piller at the base (between the driver and passenger door) Visible VIN: Stamped on the base of the windscreen on the nearside in two lines - please note if windscreen has been replaced this might be lost. On some models the VIN will be stamped on the other windows. The VIN will usually begin with VF1 and should be 17-digits long. Regards Inspector 007

Because the shaft(s) in the gearbox are still spinning and the reverse gear typically doesn't have synchromesh to equalise their speeds as it engages.

The shaft(s) are still spinning for one of three reasons:

a) the clutch friction disc has not fully released from either of it's mating surfaces

b) the oil in the gearbox is the wrong grade or quantity

c) you are trying to shift into reverse too soon after disengaging the clutch

Anti-sieze compount (e.g copper grease) on the input shaft splines may cure (a) if the clutch pressure plate isn't faulty and the clutch cable (or hydraulics if used) are correctly adjusted. (b) is unlikely unless the gearbox has been leaking or it's had it's oil changed shortly before the problem began.

Get somebody to push on the bonnet whilst you are trying to pull lever. This should do the trick then lubricate all moving parts of the catch mechanism.

It will have to go to a garage with the correct equipment to have it reprogrammed, its not possible to do this at home.Hope this helps

£700 according to Renauilt Enfield. Ouch! Quoted replacement time is 3hrs.6 minutes.

if it is the new shape megane II with the funny shape rear end, open the boot. there is a wing nut thing and the top of the light unit attachin it to the body work, undo this. run your hand down the black vinyl until u find a large round circular cover on the side of the unit, remove the cover and remove the 2nd wing nut thing inside the cover. the unit is now free to be removed. stand square on to the rear of the car, facin the same direction as the car. gently pull the light straight towards you, DO NOT LIFT AND PULL, JUST PULL STRAIGHT TOWARDS YOU. this is because there are 2 pin like things which are holdin the unit into the cars body work, if u pull at an angle then these will snap off if the unit is pulled off the bodywork. once removed, there are 2 holders for lights, locate the bulb which is the brake light, and replace bulb, put light unit back on to car following the reverse of the above, ensuring it is pushed back straight not to damage the pins. replace the 2 wing nut things and recover the one with the black round plastic cover.

Make sure the pump is working and water is actually getting to the spray nozzles. Simplest solution would be to disconnect the little rubbber water hose, either at the spray head, or where it exits the pump, and then blow compressed air into the tiny spray nozzle. That should blow out any debris that may be plugging the hole back out the way it came in (I prefer to use "canned air"(the kind they use to clean computer keyboards and other electronics). More likely to be a duff gearbox mounting, common fault on the scenic.

Check rubbers around boot and around rear window[may be perished]if so replace them,also check rear lights for possible leak,sandy

In K9K engine series: If you mean the tdc in order to lock crankshaft to replace timing belt, in front of the engine near the flywheel zone right below the oil pressure valve there is a small bolt (usually with a torx head "star").

Removing that bolt and inserting a special locking tool through that hole ,will lock crankshaft right on the tdc.

No he means the TDC Sensor which is on top of the bell housing it is held in place on a banana shaped plate which is bolted to the engine with 2 10mm bolts.

Petrol engine filter is located under the floor near to the tank.

The quickest fix for electronic items is rebooting which is accomplished by turning them off and on again. The Renault Megane Scenic can be rebooted by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. A mechanic will typically do this at no charge.

Had the same problem. The immobilizer light just stop blinking. Couldn't start the vehicle. Key re-coded. Problem solved
