Yes.

Folliculitis and Acne-Like Eruptions are multiple small pimples or pustules that develop around hair follicles on the chest, back, face, scalp, legs, and buttocks. This acne-like skin rash also can be very itchy; patients may scratch enough to cause bleeding and secondary infections. Folliculitis usually is treated with a combination of antihistamines, antibiotics, antibacterial soaps or washes, and topically applied drying lotions used for acne. Ultraviolet light treatment also may be used.

If you have tried a million acne treatments including prescription and nothing works What do you recommend?

It may take up to one year to eliminate skin problems. They are some of the slowest conditions to respond to natural therapies, but the response is often more complete than with drugs. Aromatherapy: Massage affected areas with bergamot, camphor, geranium, juniper, lavender, or neroli essential oils. Ayurveda: Practitioners of Ayurvedic medicine recommend applying tumeric and sandalwood paste (1/2 teaspoon of each and enough water to make a paste) to pimples, and drinking half a cup of aloe vera juice twice daily until acne clears. Diet: Whole foods diet with special emphasis on vegetables (four to five servings per day, try to eat half of servings raw) and whole fruits (one to three times per day). The more severe the acne, the more you should reduce animal fats (saturated). Some people get acne in response to stressor foods such as caffeine, refined sugars, and alcohol. Processed foods such as colas, candies, and frozen and processed foods may also be a problem. Be sure to increase your intake of pure water and eat more fiber foods. Mono-cleansing diets for one to two days per week for several months may be helpful in people who are not hypoglycemic (low blood sugar), debilitated, or require food to keep up strength for working. Examples of a mono-diet might include one steamed vegetable such as broccoli and brown rice without any animal products. Use pro-biotics, found in the chilled section of your health food store as directed on label. Fasting one day a week may also be helpful. Consider colon, candida, and liver cleansing (see our Cleansing and Detoxification section for more information). Flower Essences: Add 3-5 drops of Crab Apple essence to pure water and drink throughout the day. This will help detox and purification and alleviate feelings of unattractiveness. Rescue Remedy

Why do you get a red itchy rash under my wedding ring?

I work in fast food and have never worn a ring to work until I got married. Ever since then, I have noticed that I have a rash under my wedding band. At first, my husband's reaction was that the ring isn't really 14K white gold like the stamp says. It's an eternity band that has holes all around the inside, so I know it's from something getting trapped under/in there. The rash happens either when I wear the ring under the latex gloves we are required to wear, or from the dishwashing soap or sink sanitizer that we use. Whether it's a rash or fungus is unsure, but it does go away when I Band-aid it with triple antibiotic. Either way, it's best to leave the ring at home if you're hands aren't going to be dry at all times. Clean your jewelry often with peroxide or alcohol.

How do I treat severe eczema on a child who has it from head to toe?

Do NOT use store bought soap with all its additives and preservatives. Use natural soap with honey, oats and calendula since all those have healing properties like the one we make at lavendersoap.org. What is more is it has shea butter to seal in moisture. My sons eczema is actually the reason we started making soap in the first place. Since we have been using the calendula soap he hasn't had an outbreak and we don't even have to use lotion anymore! Good luck!

If you have itching and little bumps after a sunburn?

The clear fluid that's coming out is sweat. There's nothing alarming happening. Your body is reacting to the burn by building lots of new layers of skin, and the top ones are drying up in preparation for peeling. Sometimes that makes sweat glands blocked (particularly with heavy use of aloe) but they're just blocked by the outermost layer of dead skin. The aloe is not a problem, i fact it's antibacterial, so it's good. but picking at or scratching at the bumps is likely to damage the new tissue underneath. So shower a little more to wash off the dead skin, and wash with soap to take off some more of that outer layer. Don't scour or scratch the skin, but sometimes blasting cold water directly on the burn while you rub it gently will help. At least that's what's helped me many times in the past.

What helps acne?

Keep your face clean. If you rest your cheek on your fist, you grind the infection into your face with your fist. You will see a lot of people with acne all over their cheeks resting their cheeks on their fist! Then I got rid of mine finally by doing something I was told not to do. When I started shaving, I put shaving cream on my pimples and shaved them off. Then I put iodine on where I had removed them. That I do not recommend.

How do you minimize road rash scars that are about a month old?

***HINTS TO MINIMIZE SCARS***

After my accident, I got good info from a nurse, who also happened to work for a plastic surgeon. She told me the following: Keep your scars out of the sun, and if that is difficult, use lots of strong sunscreen that blocks UVA and UVB rays. When scars are in the sun, they will get red, stand out, and never fade! Also- there are creams that I found worked really well. "Scarzone" & "Mederma". They come in a tube, sold at pharmacies. Also pure vitamin oil, made for external use. The nurse said to wait at least a month, even 2 months after getting scars before you use the creams. After scars "set and heal", (1-2 months), you can start using the cream. Put it on everyday, even 2-3 times a day. I alternated between creams; 1 week- Scarzone; Next week- Mederma, then vit. E. Use it faithfully, for at LEAST a month. I used it for 3 months. My scar was on my face and it was nasty. Now, you can hardly see it. It's been 11 months, and I still use creams a few times a week. NOTE: The Mederma is like $22.00 a tube, and Scarzone is under $10.00 a tube. Get both, it's worth it! AND, always wear sunscreen. Hope this helps!
