Can taking an antihistamine stop itching?

Yes. Usually a wheal response, also known as swelling is caused by your body producing a histamine. What this does is allow fluid to pass from small blood capillaries into the surrounding tissue. This allows the fluid to surround or envelope an irritant such as a scratch or insect bite. The final result is an irritating itch.

By taking an antihistamine, you reduce the amount of histamine your body produces resulting in the lessening of the itch. This can be taken orally such as benadryl tablets or as a topical ointment (outside the body applied to the affected area). Please take the time to ask a doctor or nurse how this may have an adverse effect upon you as some people who take antihistamines get a energy burst while others feel sedated or sleepy.

Can clear fingernail polish remove skin tags?

Yes it does work.

Completely cover the tag in clear nail varnish and allow to dry.

Do this twice a day, most say it takes 1 to 2 weeks but the longest it's taken me to remove one is 5 days.

It might sting a little when you first apply the varnish, but so does getting them frozen off in the doctors! You won't won't find a cheaper method.

Best of luck ;)

Can coffee cause acne?

I am a coffee addict so I'm probably biased. I have acne, but I believe it came about due to the thyroid medication I'm on. I'm not sure. Before I started that medication for my thyroid I never had acne. Then again I never used to drink coffee either.

However I read somewhere on the internet that the coffee itself may not aggravate your acne but it is the milk in the coffee that does. All dairy products are supposed to aggravate your acne apparently.

Somewhere else I read that recent research shows that caffeine might actually be good for your skin. It's a diuretic, a vasoconstrictor and has lots of antioxidants. Apparently it can help tighten your skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles around ure eyes and stuff. Again I'm not sure about any of this, it's just what I read on a couple websites a while back.

I don't have the web pages for them otherwise I would have posted it up.

Hope this was helpful.

Answer

P didy used proactive and said he still had bumbs so was going to sue proactive. They said it was because he was drinking caffeine and sugary drinks and that is what caused it so he didnt sue them and stopped drinking the caffeine. Personally i don't think milk really agravates acne if anything its the caffeine in the coffee so i don't think coffee can be a big role in causing acne, if you already have acne though it can maybe aggravate it

What causes nappy rash?

Diaper rashes are often caused by the chemicals used as fragrances for wipes and diapers. The best thing to do when finding an inflamed area with a pattern connected to the diaper contact area, is to try and determine the cause. It could be an allergic reaction to the specific brand, if so you should think about what brands you are using and what might be causing the irritation, as well as using cloth diapers. There may also be an infecition, in which case you might have to think about refering to a doctor for more details on topical antibotics.

For more information on the topic, check out this great site.

If you have pimples are you ugly?

Of course not! Pimples come and go, a lot of people get them! Saying people who have pimples are ugly is very silly and quite hurtful. A super model could get a pimple and that wouldn't mean she was ugly. In my eyes no one is ugly.

Why do you feel itchy when wounds are about the cure?

The itch of a healing wound is caused by the growth of new cells underneath the old scab. New skin cells would be growing underneath there, and as they form a new layer of skin, then the scab becomes more tightly stretched over this zone of activity. This can make it feel itchy. The itch sensation for burn survivors may be a tingling feeling caused by nerves re-growing, or from dry skin caused by the lack of natural oil production since oil glands may have been damaged or destroyed by the burn. As the nerves grow and start to receive and send messages, they may create that itchy feeling. The skin in this area will be a lot less thick than everywhere else, so these new nerve cells will be under a lot more pressure. Most people say that itching is a sign of healing. It is best to avoid itching of the wound. If it becomes too much of a problem, speak with the doctor or nurse. They may order medications by mouth or some topical cream to help make this more tolerable

How can you tell an infection on your belly button?

I have the same problem sometimes. I use some Q-tips dipped in hydrogen peroxide and clean the inside (there could be something in there that is causing the infection i.e. lint/hair) then grab a rag and pour some of the peroxide into your naval and let it sit for a a couple minutes... this will sting a little then place the rag on it and turn over so the peroxide can run out. It should clear up soon... just do this daily until it goes away. Mine are reoccurring so I am thinking about going to the doctor soon. Answer: I would suggest you check the related link below and see if that answers your questions, don't use anything in or on your piercing that your piercer hasn't told you to use, including hydrogen peroxide. Just check the links "It's infected now what? " and "Common Sense Aftercare"

What are all the symptoms of scabies?

The most common symptom of scabies is itching which tends to be constant and extremely intense. The itch will usually become worse at night. For the first week, the itch may be subtle, but gradually becomes worse until it may become difficult to sleep at all. What makes the itch of scabies distinctive is that fact that it is relentless in contrast to other 'itchy' conditions such as eczema which rarely prevents the sufferer from sleeping. You will also likely notice small burrows under the surface of the skin and sores caused by itching.

What causes a constant itch on your right side that you constantly have to rub?

Subluxation could be the cause. It is very important that you visit a Chiropractor to assess the problem. You can get x-rays and a detailed physical of your nervous system, spine, and overall health. A subluxation is when your spine is misaligned which causes either pinched nerves, damaged nerves, damaged discs, etc. Your nerves are like the life line to your organs. If it is pinched or not allowed to function 100%, then it is like pinching a water hose. You can have pain just about anywhere from a pinched nerve. Everyone can benefit from Chiropractic, especially you at this time.

Can the use of liquid nitrogen on your skin cause an allergic rash?

No. Nitrogen does not irritate skin. But liquid nitrogen is extremely cold, and it can damage and kill skin (and other) tissue. It is a bad idea to allow your skin to come into contact with liquid nitrogen. Note: Some warts are "frozen" in an effort to remove them. In a clinical setting, liquid nitrogen is sometimes used to super-cool an instrument so the wart can be frozen. But this is a medical procedure and is done by professionals. Liquid nitrogen is not something that should be looked upon as a "toy" or "recreational plaything" by anyone.
