Is it bad to give out the last four digits of your social security number?
Very good question. I am finding more and more job applications on line, are asking for this. I have checked and, cannot find an official answer. I checked the FBI website and really didn't find a definitive answer. I do know the first three digits is an area code that is public record. I think the two digits pin point what city you applied for your SSN at.
How about this...why don't we start telling the requester that we will give them ours if they will give us theirs?
If they say no, we could take that to mean we should not do this.
None of the exceptions you present would disqualify a person under 18 years of age from receiving Social Security Benefits attributed to the fathers Soc Sec Account. Whoever the court appoints or considers to be the legal guardian will receive the monies to be used for the benefit and welfare of the minor. However the Soc Sec Admn has specific rules which could eliminate any receipt of monies. Refer to the benefits section of the Soc Sec Admn web sit ssa.gov.
LLCs are what's referred to as "Pass through entities," meaning that any profits it generates "pass through" to the principals. Because of this, there are no distributions, all monies received is classified as income and is taxed as such.
S Corporations are different. They can work as a pure pass through entity like an LLC, or they can be taxed at the corporate level, and any profits distributed thereafter are done so tax-free.
You need to check the eligibility rules for Social Security to be sure, but I think you have to have been married to the guy when he was working and contributing to SS for at least 10 years. Then you are eligible to receive a percentage of his benefits on his death. There are also disability benefits of his that you can tap. It would be worth a call to your Social Security office. If you are still legally married, you are still the benefiting spouse. But don't assume anything. Make sure the records clearly indicate that you will benefit, and do what you can to correct them if they do not. Make sure they know who you are and where you are so they know where to send your share (when your dear husband departs us!)

If you were married twice can you draw social security from both exhusbands?
Social security benefits cannot be drawn from an ex-husband unless the court authorizes a pension plan to be paid to a former spouse. When the spouse got married a second time, the benefits from the first ex-husband should have stopped unless there are minor children involved.
Getting married can reduce your SSI benefit or cause the payments to stop altogether -- it depends on your wife's income. If she has a large income you will probably lose some and maybe all. If she has a meager income probably not.
If you want help calculating your possible loss of benefits, contact your local Social Security office
Each case is different with the Social Security Administration. Some people can marry and not lose any benefits. You can speak to an agent and ask about your certain case.

If you collect unemployment does it reduce your Social Security benefits for the future?
No, not technically. Social Security is technically considered 'insurance', as are unemployment benefits.
Unemployment benefits are regulated and provided by your state of residence, while Social Security benefits are under the control of the federal government.
The monies you receive for unemployment, however, are generally not taxed, so you are not paying INTO the Social Security system, as you are when you have paid employment. (I have noticed recently, however, that some states give UE recipients the option of having taxes withheld or not. If one does NOT have the taxes withheld will then have to pay them at the end of the year, per their tax return.)
Another answer:NOT receiving any unemployment benefits would mean that during the time that they calculate your SS entitlements your average income would be reduced by the zero income in the period you were not paying your SS taxes because of your unemployment. Therefore, any amount you receive from unemployment is a plus even if it only counted as immediate income and not credited to your SS account. So your averages are not reduced by receiving unemployment compensation.
CLARIFICATION:
Just to clarify. Since Social Security calculates your benefit based on the 35 best years of your working years, if you have a long period of unemployment this could reduce your average wages, and thus potentially reduce your benefits. If you exhausted unemployment benefits and had any "zero income years" that could reduce your average wages even more, and thus the basis for you Soc Sec benefits. However if you had 35 working years total by the time you retire you would be OK since the calculation is based on your "35 best years"

The social security office will check to make sure that the person is entitled to social security payments, that he is fully covered, what his illness is, can he work at least part time.
They will do a complete check on the background, the type of work they do, how much they earn and more.
