When your spoiling your child your giving them what they want when they want it just to keep them happy so you don't have to deal with them. once you spoil your child, depending on age, its hard to get back in control. its like taking the easy way out of things, instead of dealing with them properly, you want to get it over with as soon as possible, but you will want to get back in control just as soon! I know a Dad who is constantly buying his biological daughter the most expensive sports equipment, clothes, toys and even a cell phone. He does not attend her parent teacher conferences or show up for special events. Buying his child the "best of the best" is his way of "winning her over" without having to do any of the hard work. I think he is hoping his daughter will choose to live with him when she is older. This is not a smart move. Kids are smart. His daughter will eventually see that a parent who truly loves their child does more for that child through their actions and teaching life lessons. Parents who try to bribe or spoil their kids may seem like the "cool guys" for a while, but it takes more than being cool to raise a child with love. In the end, they are really hurting their kids while making themselves feel good.
