What is Sunday bite in orthodontics?
A Sunday bite is when someone with a more pronounced upper jaw juts the chin (lower jaw) forward to make the upper jaw look less pronounced. A "Sunday Bite or Dual Bite" referrs to a lack of proper fit when the upper and lower teeth are closed together. Technically, this is referred to as a "centric slide". A small amount of "slide" is normal.
What is the most painful experience you had at the dentist?
One time my dentist left the numbing shot in my mouth, and then he left the room for a good 15 minutes. He told me to hold really still and that if I moved, the needle would fall out and that he would have to re-poke me. I didn't move a muscle, but is was the longest 15 minutes of my life!! I had to lay there with a needle stuck in my cheek, propped up against my lips!
Can you have popcorn if you have your expander in?
It depends if you have braces on yet. I have an expander right now, but I have bottom braces. There's not much of a problem with the expander and popcorn, unless you get an unpopped kernel up there, which is pretty tricky to get out. As long as you're careful not to let that happen, and you're extra-careful if you have braces, then yes, you should be able to have popcorn.
Should you have a tori removed before dentures?
Yes, If you do not have it will not fit right and you will be really upset with your dentures!

you only need to brush your teeth for 1.5 to 2 minutes, but it wont do you any harm to brush them for longer

The length of time you have to have braces on depends on what needs to be done to your teeth. The average is about 2 years, I'd say. The cost varies from office to office and probably state to state. And it also depends on what you need. But average is probably about 3 to 5 thousand dollars. Some insurances will pay for a part of it. Most won't.
Most offices have lots and lots of colors. Clear, grey, white, many shades of red, yellow, blue, orange, red, purple, green, etc. They have some with a bit of sparkles in them. Shades of brown. Probably black. Every office will have a little bit different variety, but they all have lots of colors.

- Braces have to stay on for usually 2 years, 1 minimum. It all depends on how your teeth are aligned. The worse the teeth are, the longer the braces will have to stay on. Sometimes it also depends on whether you listen to your orthodontist because they're usually the ones who advises you to help you towards your goal with your teeth. Also, rubber bands can only be used once. They have to be changed at least once a day. And actually, colored braces are the same price as the other kind, and they DON'T make you need braces longer.

In the UK braces are free on the NHS. At my orthodentist their a a large variety of colours; browns, whites, blacks, greys all the way to neons. If you don't like these colours, then you can always change them the next time you get them tightened. I've had my braces tightened three times now and I've just had a new, thicker wire placed on. I was told by a friend that once you get the first thick wire on it's about 6-8 months until you get your braces off.

I live in the UK and to go private you have to pay about four thousand pounds for your regular train-tracks, if you like. Or you can go on the waiting list for the NHS, which I did, but that meant I couldn't get colours put in. But at some orthodontists they will do colours for you. Getting colours doesn't slow down the process. Braces really stay on depending on the case and how well you care for them. x

I can tell you from 5 years of braces experience, best thing my parents EVER did for me. I won’t lie, there were times it was uncomfortable and embarrassing, but not ever painful. I survived it and have a great smile for life because of it! Nothing to worry about, I promise!
Why do people need rubber bands on their braces?
Me being a brace face knows your answer. We need rubber bands to help our teeth get in place. For the last five to six months they help keep your teeth straight so when you close your mouth they are all lined up nice and neat.

What can I do my tooth is being pushed backwards?
, Iam the person above who asked this question. There are 4 short front teeth on the bottom of your mouth followed by one sharp long tooth on each side. So whats happening is that the sharp tooth on the right side is pushing against one of the small teeth and that tooth is actually going backwards. You can notice it if you look and it feels like theirs pressure there. Ive never has braces. I am 17 years old. What should I do? My theory is that my wisdom teeth are coming out and they are pushing my teeth closer together. My teeth have always been close together so I think that its putting more pressure on them, forcing that tooth to shift backwards. Please help. Also, my wisdom teeth havent come out yet. But my orthodontist said they will soon.
Does invisilign work for extremely crowded teeth?
Invisalign is used only for mild malocclusion cases. (Malocclusion is irregular or improper closing of the jaw) Extremely crowded teeth would be too complicated and would take too long to be straightened using this method.
Invisalign works through clear retainers that are replaced about every week with a little change in them to force the teeth to move. If the teeth are extremely crooked, then it will take far too long and be far too expensive to make so many retainers with minute changes in them to align the teeth correctly. It would be far more economically efficient and time-saving if regular braces were used for such a case.
Do I remove clear plastic retainer every time I want a drink?
The plastic retainers are easy to put in and take out, and normally you only have to wear them during the night. As a result it is less likely to cause a problem when you drink as during the day you will probably not have to wear them. It is not vital to remove the retainer when you drink but it does make drinking a lot easier and is the best option.
if you are drinking water it should be fine to keep it in. but if you are drinking coke, juice, milkshakes or smoothies its best to take it out!
