Before replacing the fuel pump you should check the fuse and relay for a wire short. Fuel Pump relay is located under the drivers side upper left under the instrument panel. There should be a green connector above or behind the fuse box which is the fuel pump relay.

The fuel pump is behind the back seat under the floor board. There will be one or two access holes depending on 4wd or 2wd. If there are two this means there are two sending unit connections

Reomve cover.

Disconnect neg battery and sending unit connector.

Detach hoses from pump.

Remove mounting bolts.

Lift assembly form fuel tank.

Disconnect electrical connector, fuel line clamp and detach fuel pump.

remove the one bolt and the bracket will lift up. The side with out a bolt is a hinge. Very easy to replace pads.

The hazard lights on subarus are located in the middle of the dash not on the steering column like alot of cars

check this first, make sure the button is not pushed in, this happens a lot by accident when cleaning the car

If you car has a keyless entry or security system that is most likely the source of the problem.

If the battery has been disconnected, it will cause this to happen.

You have to find the security or keyless entry system reset button

on my 1997 subaru out back it is under the dash on left side it is a black button

hold the button in and at the same time turn the key to the on position

(Do not start the car just turn to the on position)

for about 20 seconds and it will reset

My 2001 Subaru Outback does not have this problem. If it sounds like you are dragging something, look under the car to see if you are dragging something. Take a look at the plastic fender liners to see if one of those has come loose and is in contact with a tire. There is no amount of written advice that can come close to just examining the car to see what is dragging.

Well, if you believe the owner's manual, you must take it to the dealership and have it done there! Surely there is a better way.... I believe it has to do with the grey cylindrical knob with the three slots which is located behind the headlamp bulb. The knob just spins if you turn it by hand, but there is probably a factory tool that allows it to grasp the adjusting shaft for the headlamp. Since it was only plastic, I did not wish to try to improvise a tool for fear of stripping the plastic. I plan to go the dealership tomorrow and politely request that they adjust the headlamp beam for free. I'll tell them I'll be looking at new Subarus while they perform the task, thank you very much!

On my 98 2.5Liter Outback, the radiator drain plug is at the lower left (passenger side) rear side of the radiator. Pull the small plastic coweling loose that is just below it to unscrew the plug. im having to deal with this right now. according to the manual remove the radiator cap and reservoir cap. start the car and slowly fill the reservoir as needed the air will vent from the radiator once the water no longer needs to be filled replace the caps **you must pour slowly or you will prevent the air from escaping

Yes, Reese Hitch lists a CLASS 2 hitch Part # 06020. The fram has to be drilled and there may need to be some modification to the muffler/tail pipe heat shield.
