How to play an iPod in a Subaru Outback?

Have an auxillary audio input jack (optional incessary) installed by your Subaru dealer (Costs $145 AUS as at may 2008). On the 2008 model, this is installed in the centre onsole right under the second cigarette lighter input. You connect the headphone port on your IPOD to the auxillaty audio jack with a 3.5mm plug. You can then listen to your IPOD on the car stereo by pressing the "AUX" button. You can also charge your IPOD at the same time, using a car charger plugged into the cigarette lighter jack above. (Two connections - two cables). The set up is quite neat, although not ideal. The hinged lid of the centre console has a divot that allows the lid to shut with the IPOD cables protruding, so you can put your IPOD in the centre cup holders. A dash mount is possible, but you would have cables running from the centre console - not very pretty. This set up allows you to hear your IPOD through the car stereo speakers, without the interference experienced with FM transmitters. I tried my FM transmitter first, but signifcant intereference and awkward positioning of the cigarette lighter jacks meant either I had to unplug the IPOD from inside the centre console to make any adjustments (volume, change playlists etc), or alternatively, access to the airconditioner was blocked and I cracked my knuckles when moving gears (using the lower dash cigarette lighter jack). The set up we have does not allow you to control the IPOD using the stereo controls - you still need to use your IPOD wheel for that. Basically, you are just attaching a speaker connection. You also need to be careful about volume when changing from IPOD to CD or radio. To achieve decent sound, turn your IPOD volume up to the max, and then adjust the volume using the car stereo volume control. You'll have to turn the car stereo up higher than usual. Remember to turn the stereo volume down before switching to CD or radio or you'll get a sound blast. Hope this helps.

What would cause a 99 Legacy Outback to lose power while going up hills you have to press on the gas for more power?

Have you checked to see if you are leaking any oil while you're traveling uphill? Loss of engine oil will cause your car to lose power, and eventually blow your engine if you don't replenish it.

How much power are you losing? Every car will slow down when you're going up a hill and will require you to push harder on the gas to maintain the same speed.

A bad knock sensor will cause very weak acceleration. This happened on two of my subarus. It is an easy fix and improves the situation immediately.

How much does it cost to replace a rear differential in a subaru outback?

I bought a used one a few years ago for my '96 Outback for less than $200 and replaced it myself. As for labor, the only answer that has any meaning at all will come from the person who is willing to do the job. Prices vary widely especially depending on where you live.

I would guess that a pro should do it for around 4 hours' labor. Took me over twice that long but it was my first time and done with the car on jack stands in my garage.

Differentials seldom go bad in these. Be sure that is your problem.

How many quarts of oil does a 2013 Subaru Outback take?

You did not specify which engine you have. The 4 cylinder takes 4.2 quarts but your owner's manual will give you that information. There is a lot of important information in that manual and you should familiarize yourself with it.

How much does it cost to replace to the front differential on 06 subaru outback sport?

What is cost of replacing 3 cylinder on a subaru?

We do not have the facility to do repairs here. So, since I won't be repairing your vehicle anything I tell you will have absolutely no value. If I say $300 but someone who actually does the work says $1200, what have you gained? And do I understand that you are asking to replacing a single cylinder sleeve? Why?

It is unlikely that replacing a single cylinder sleeve will solve whatever issue you have. Can you tell me how much I charge per hour? If you can do that and give me a hint as to what engine and model year I can give you an approximate price on a complete engine rebuild.

How to replace fuel pump 1997 subaru outback?

real easy the fuel pump is loated behind the rear seat on the passenger side. remove the carpet from the rear section of your car then fold down the rear seat on the passenger side. behind it you will find an oval cover with four brass colored phillip screws in it. remove the four screws then remove the cover. then you will see the top of your fuel pump. remove the wiring pig tail and the three black hoses( remember where they go.. Then you will find 8 to 12 nuts on top of the pump9 they are 8 mm in size) with nuts removed you thin can remove your fuel pump. its takes a little moving it around befor it will come out. make sure you replace the black rubber gasket that you will see when the fuel pump is removed. know get a new fuel pump and reverse the process to install. Hope this helps this is instruction for an outback wagon.

Do all Subaru Outback owners have problems with windows frosting up inside the car in the winter?

this probably just means you have moisture in your vehicle. try leaving a small heater in it overnight with the window open about a 1/2 inch, should be fine after that. Your car shouldn't have moisture in it unless there is a leak somewhere. Possibly in one of the window seals, which have caused Subarus some problems in the past.
