if you look under the car from the front bumper (05-07 models) you will see a plastic cover protecting the car's engine from Debris. There is one square that has three plastic screws and labeled oil filter under here. Do a half turn on the three screws and pop the cover off. and there is your oil filter

You have a thermostat located likely in the radiator at the bottom. It screws in and completes the circuit to turn on the fan when it reaches a certain temperature. I'll bet that is your problem. Simply disconnect, unscrew and screw new one in. If you're not sure what you are looking for, go buy one first. You will lose fluid when you take it out, but not much if you are fast. Your temp gauge works because that sensor is a different one than the one that activates your fans. Of course, you can run straight power to the fans to confirm they work. Hope that helps.

High octane gas will not hurt your Subaru's motor but will offer little to no advantage over the regular grade gas that the manufacturure recommends.

High octane fuels resist detonation better then regular octane fuel, this is required in high performance high compression engines like the Suburu STI turbo motor, your car has the regular compression non-turbo motor so save your money and just get the regular grades. Detonation- When the fuel ignites and explodes before the spark plug fires, causes knocking sounds and can hurt the motor. Compression- the squeeze force in the combustion chamber, the higher the compression the greater the heat and the higher the risk that the fuel will detonate unless a higher octane fuel is used. Diesel engines use high compression alone to ignite the fuel mixture hence they have no need for spark plugs but require diesel fuel rather than gasoline.

Check the heater core for a leak. If not that then check the windshield gasket.

The A/C condensate drain hose is most likely clogged with debris that washes down the base of the windshield to underneath the hood . Clean this area out periodically. You will have suck out the debris from the drain hose with a vacuum or Carefully stick something flexible up the tube to unclog it. the drain tube is located on the passenger side,to the rear of the engine near the firewall.

I assume that you are referring to the ECM or ElectronicControl Module. It is located on the passenger's side floor (for left-hand control vehicles) under the carpeting.

It sound like an eletrical problem, did they both start at the same time? If so they my share a circuit, start by checking your fuses there is a list of what fuses go to what equipment in your owners manual. If that's not it you may want to take it is a mechanic, airbags are delicate and complex things.
