If you mean the thin nylon ones then no they will not prevent tanning. you get tanned by the light of the sun not the heat so if they are see through (even a little bit) the light will go through tights and tan you :) hope this helps :)

I boil a kettle,get a glass which will hold hot water without shattering.when the kettle starts to come to boil hold the glass over the nozzle and heat the glass a little.pour half port into the glass then top up with the boiling water. Tanning and freckles are caused by UVA exposure. SPF rates the level of UVB protection, but not UVA protection. Most sunscreens do not provide adequate UVA protection.

Look for a product with a high critical wavelength value. this is a UVA rating being promoted by the American Academy of Dematology. Any product with a CW over 370 is excellent UVA protection.
