Universal O2 sensors are easier to replace than original parts. When you determine which O2 sensor needs to be replaced, cut the bundle of wires (4 wires total) close to the O2 sensor itself. Remove the old sensor. This may be a little difficult as the heat from the manifold/exhaust can fuse the 2 together. Place a little grease on the threads of the new part, careful not to touch the sensor with your figers. Tighten the new part into the manifold. The new O2 sensor should have 4 wires just like the old one. If you are using a Bosch part, the wires are color coordinated for you. Black to black, white to white, gray to gray. Cut about 3/5 inch off of each sleeve, exposing the wire, and splice together. Use the capsule unit provided with the new O2 sensor to keep all the splices within a contained unit. If it did not come with one, use electricians tape to tape each wire set individually, then as a whold group. Make sure it is taped and encased well enough to keep elements out of the wiring. Once everything is together, secure the loose O2 wires to the chasis or other parts, keeping it away from hot and moving parts.

To replace the fuel filter on a 2000 Suzuki Grand Vitara V6, start by relieving the fuel system pressure by disconnecting the fuel pump fuse and running the engine until it stalls. Next, disconnect the negative battery cable and locate the fuel filter, which is typically along the fuel line under the vehicle. I have a 2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara XL-7 and just changed my fuel filter at 50,000 miles. The owners manual says to change it at 30,000 miles, but I think this is too soon. Any ways it is located in the rear, in front of the gas tank, just behind the rear axle. It didn't seem to have a lot of pressure built up in the lines, in or out, so it wasn't too messy. I took the gas cap off during the procedure, so that may have helped. Since I have a 2001 Grand Vitara, which is likely similar if not identical to the 2002 XL-7 (shorter body), and am facing the same problem, I will look under it. Fuel filters are often located near the fuel tank somewhere between the frames and I suspect this one is no different. An option and one worth pursuing if you do other maintenance work is to purchase either a Chilton or Haynes manual or equivalent. If you've really got the bucks, Suzuki probably publishes a mechanics manual. Anyone out there want to save the both of us some time and effort in finding where it's located?
