Disconnect the emergency brake cable under rear of vehicle. You will see small empty bolt holes on face of the drum. Put an 8 mm bolt in each of the holes and alternate tightening between the two until drum releases.

To remove Serpentine Belt Disconnect Negative battery lead. Remove air cleaner box assembly to access alternator. Drain about half litre of Radiator fluid: remove pressure cap with COLD engine and undo drain plug at base of tank. Remove top radiator hose. Unclip power steering fluid bottle (attached to top of radiator on RHS) and tie out of the way with wire or string. Loosen Alternator adjusting bolts to relax fan belt,undo fan housing bolts attaching it to the radiator,undo bolts holding fan to pulley then remove fan housing and fan from engine bay at the same time. replace them the same way(easier this way)be careful not to dammage radiator core. Now you will see both fan and Serpentine belts. Loosen belt tensioner for Serpentine belt (3inch wheel 2 bolts in front)then you can remove both fan and serpentine belts together with fan pulley.You might as well change both as if one is due the other won't be far behind. Assemble in reverse order,don't forget to re-tension both belts and top up the radiator fluid. No special tools required. Not too difficult,take your time. Enjoy.

Well what is happening is the #5 cylinder is misfiring on that cylinder it could be a burnt valve bad lifter or spark plug best thing to do is to do a compression test on all the cylinders compare all the readings if a difference between 10% could have worn rings best thing to do is have a technician check this out could be a bad injector the injectors are hard to get to but you could remove the cover an take a test light disconnect the connector on injector #5 and take the test light and touch the probe to one side and the other side of the test light connector to the othe other side of the connector to see if it flashes if it does it tell u that it is getting a signal form the computer i would do that first

It's located below the glove box and is held in place by 4 screws. We just finished changing ours and discovered afterthe fact that you probably don't need to remove the glove box to access it. It's in a very tight space.

Unless things are VERY strange, it should be the same essentially as was on Suzuki Samurais...yes, it has a belt that goes around the crankcase pulley (front of engine near the bottom), the fan (front of engine near the top), and the alternator. The alternator is set off to the passenger side of the engine bay, and the way the belt is tensioned is by loosening a bolt on the top bracket of the alternator and swinging the alternator toward the engine to loosen the belt and toward the battery & air cleaner to tighten it. Note you may have to also loosen the bolts on the bottom of the alternator so it will 'swing' back and forth. That's the way it was on Samurai's, and I know that Geo Tracker engines were a common swap into a samurai, so I'm pretty sure it would be the same. Hope that helps.
