It's in behind the center console, near the firewall. If you remove (completely swing down) the glove box you can see the wiring plug needed to get to it.

Changed the battery now the 2004 XL7 won't idle right It dies when in idle why?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

most probably because the computer lost its memory try to take it for a good 15-20 min ride should be ok.

The computer loses it's memory when it is disconnected from the battery for any amount of time. Part of this is the engine idle. The fastest way to "cure" this (takes about 5 mins) is to start it up and give it enough gas to keep it running. Then let off the gas so that it ALMOST stalls and give it a little more gas to keep it running. Repeat about 5-10 times (you will notice it improving). You will need to do this with the AC on and with it off as the idle requirements are different. This worked great in my standard transmission. In the automatic, it's possible you may need to also do the same while it is in the various gears. It's a FAST fix though!

What kind of motor oil do you need for a 2007 chev Tahoe?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Just in case you don't get the exact answer. Usually on the frame plate where the hood latch is, should be a sticker somewhere that tells you what oil to use,and sometimes on the oil cap tells you.

The owners manual always has what oil is used.

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

1st remove allen bolt at bottom of front fairing, then the screw on either side of the speedo holding the black covers on. Then remove the screw either side behind these panels. This will allow you to take of the front fairing. Next remove headlamp via the four screws holding it to it's brackets. Then you can undo the small screws holding the clip that holds the bulb holder in place. Then simply remove bulb from holder. Reverse this process to refit it. job done. :)

Why does my Suzuki xl-7 start but stalls immediatlly?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I am having this same problem, I own a 2002 suzuki xl7 and my battery has been running extremely low so today my husband took it to have a new one put in at a walmart, and when he starts it with the new battery in it, it would start right up but stall or just turn off. I purchased the car from a dealer in California and I am now in Arizona, well I called the dealer and the Suzuki service person says it needs to have its "Values Reset" and that apparently only a Suzuki dealership can do and and of course it costs about 150 bucks! So the stereo says System Error and the car continues to stall. I contacted a dealer here in Arizona and the apparently don't know what I am talking about so I am quite confused, I hope this helps you a little. If you have anything to help me, that would be great! ***Different Owner*** I also ran into this issue as well for the first time. This was my second battery change. On this recent battery change, the truck started up great but died when the tach needle went to idle. After putting back in the old battery with very little charge left I got the same result. I put back in the new battery thinking that maybe the onboard computer needs to be reset or "re-learn", I revved the engine once right after starting and this time the engine didn't die, but was idling VERY low. This was enough for me to back out and take it for a spin. After parking the truck, turning it off, the starting again, this time I didn't have to rev the engine and it stayed idling but still a little low on th rpm. I'll give it a few more starts before looking into reseting the codes. Autozone will check the codes for you for free with their scanner. They may clear the codes for you for a fee, but no where like $150. You can buy a scanner for around $50 to do the same yourself. I'm going to get one today. ***Update - After a week of driving the idle returned to normal RPM level, so apparently the computer needed to re-adjust and re-learn driving variables. All is good now.

***** Different Owner 2 ****** Once you change the battery you have to ressette the the computer- Turn the ignition all the way on without starting the vehicle and leave it on for about 5 minuites then switch it all the way off.. You should then be able to start your vehicle normally.

***** Different Owner 3 ****** Fastest way to reset - Start your vehicle, as it is about to stall, give it some gas to prevent stalling. Idle for a bit (by pressing the gas) and repeat the process. Takes 5-10 repetitions. You will probably need to do this with both the AC on and Off and with an automatic you may need to do it in different gears (I have a standard). Good Luck!

Installing rear break shoes on suzuki xl-7?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Remove lug nuts and wheel. There are two (2) holes in the front face of the drum. Using metric bolts purchased at a local hardware store, thread the bolts into the two (2) holes. Alternately tighten the bolts until the drum slides past the brake shoes. There is no slot in the backing plate to loosen the adjusting wheel. Once the drum is clear of the shoes, the various springs and retainer clips can be removed in the typical fashion. After inspection and cleaning of the hardware, grease the contact points on the backing plate with high-temperature brake grease. Install springs, retaining clips, and other hardware in the reverse order of removal. Turn the adjusting wheel inward for proper clearance for the brake drum. Install brake drum and check for play between new brake shoes and drum. This may require removing drum again and re-adjust the brake shoe adjusting wheel until proper clearance is achieved. Install wheel and lug nuts. torque lug nuts to proper specifications. Carefully road test vehicle for proper operation.

When i replace the Battery of my suzuki xl-7?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

In Canada, OEM batteries are usually good for about 100,000km or 8 years, depending on how cold it gets and how often you drive the car. The more it sits without being driven, and the shorter the trips, the harder it is on the battery. The age (time) is usually the dominating factor, mileage has less effect.
