How long do you have to wait to get in the pool after you put on sunscreen?
That depends almost entirely on the type of chemical in question. other factors include the size of the pool, and ration of water to chemical additive
How do you fix a new gunite pool that was built with the wrong shape?
I am also looking for answers to this situation. My pool was poured today while it rained. The walls in part of the pool collapsed just after they shot the gunite. There are now large sections where the steel is exposed and I am sure those areas are filling up with water. If you can help or give any suggestions please contact me at coronado4@msn.com
Thanks
If there are chunks that have fallen and void areas, just reshoot those areas. The nice thing about gunite is there are no cold joints when you place new gunite over old gunite.
Of course most guniters charge a setup fee just to show up at the job no matter how large it is, so small shoots are expensive.
Uniodised salt is plain common salt without the added iodine. Iodine was added to table salt in order to correct a dietary deficiency that cased a condition called goiter which looks like a swelling around the neck. Normal common salt has no iodine added to it.

The one that you will likely have to handle the most is chlorine. However, recently a new cleaner has come out that is made up of certain salts that are less harsh on peoples skin. Ask your local pool professionals about it.
How deep is a pool that is 52 inches?
the actual depth in a 52 inch tall pool would be 46 inches deep
What is the ideal temperature for a home swimming pool?
30C-34C is about 86F-93F! That temp will generally feel too warm for most people in a pool.
A better temp that would suit more people would be around 27C-29C or 80F-84F. The water will still feel warm but still be refreshing when you're swimming.
...
I think for 30-34 degree centigrade ambient temperature, the pool temperature should be around 81 F (approx. 27 degree C). This will make body feel fresh.
For a ambient temperature of around 25 degree C and below, the pool temperature should be slightly higher at 30 - 32 deg C.
I run a health club and have always had my pools at the following:
Depending on the water temp the ambient temperature should be 1 degree higher. Ideally the pool should be 29 - 30 with an ambient temp of 31 degrees
You don't really want pool water any higher than 30 as it starts to cause problems with the water.
Higher temps will increase evaporation - causing the amount of dissolved solids to increase, it also means the disinfectant will be burnt off and the total alkalinity will also increase - this will cause all the pipes to fur up just like a kettle does.
How do you use in calcium chloride in swimming pools?
Low calcium hardness is increased by adding calcium chloride. The amount needed may be worked out using the calcium chloride calculator.on the link below
divide the correct amount of calcium chloride into 3. Add the first part and circulate the water for at least 4 hours. Test the water again and repeat the process until the desired level is reached.
Why are there yellow lanes in the middle of an Olympic swimming pool?
Both lanes 4 and 5 are highlighted by using yellow lane ropes. The swimmers who compete in these lanes have either the fastest entry times or in the case of the final, the fastest qualifiying times. It is an advantage to swim in these lanes as often they are subject to less water turbulance than others. Spectators also can identify swimmers more easily by the use of the yellow lane markings.
How many gallons in swimming pool 15'x30'x6'?
There are approximately 20,200 US gallons in a 100 cubic yard swimming pool. I think a more accurate answer would be in the naighborhood of 17,000 gal length x width x times the average depth ( 6 + 3 =9 divided by 2 = 5) x 7.4
What are the major benefits of salt water pools over chlorinated ones?
== == SALT WATER POOLS ARE CHLORINATED POOLS. The difference is that the chlorine is added or manufactured automatically -- you do not have to physically add chlorine by hand daily or weekly. You also get a more even distribution of that chemical being added. However, you do have to monitor and maintain your equipment and test the chemicals periodically -- at minimum - weekly because of other chemical factors in water balance. k
== == Salt water pools are also chlorinated pools. The chlorinator converts the salt into chlorine and keeps the levels at a constant. The benefit is that you don't have to keep adding chemicals like a traditional pool. We installed a salt pool four months ago and love it. Once you get the levels of salt right it is virtually maintenance free.
What are the dimensions of a CommonWealth swimming pool?
I assume you are referring to American high school swimming. That being said, the standard course is short course yards (25 yards). That is about the only constant. There could be anywhere from 6-20 lanes; the pool could be anywhere from 4 feet deep to 12 feet deep. An "average" HS pool (educated guess here; no numbers or source) is 8 lanes and 6 feet deep, a good pool would be 10 lanes. I assume you are referring to American high school swimming. Can you take a bath in a swimming pool?
Your body is oily and the water isn't absorbed. except your hands when they go wrinkly, they have less oil on them and will absorb water but the salt will not be absorbed so it's not harmful, your body will get rid of the excess salt (via urination)
You used well water to fill a pool how do you get the orangish-brown color to be clear?
Our pool was brown when we first opened it this year, I guess the tarp fell from being too heavy with water, and all the leaves and dirt sitting on it fell in! A complete mess, You can shock it and add chlorine or pool sanitizer its called. But the majority of ours was leaves. So for a week straight i was using a leaf basket scooping leaves out, i was told the shock and chlorine help break them down. Once mostly they are all out you can start to vaccum the dirt up. It takes a while but less mess than drainig your pool i thought! Make sure you dump some algecide in too!
How do you repair a hole near the bottom of an aluminum wall of a Poseidon above-ground oval pool?
first drain the pool, then use a tool, (we used a wet tile saw, but a chipper hammer, grinder, small jackhammer or just a hammer and chisel should do) to cut into the area of the rust source (top of the streak). You need to find the rebar tip or usually it is a piece of wire used to tie rebar together. Find this metal and either grind it out of the plaster/gunite or chip it completely out. Then just patch it back up and refill the pool.
When you jump into a swimming pool why does the water feel cold to begin with?
because your body hasn't adjust to the temp to the pool
Why does the pool water turn bright green when liquid chlorine is added?
Most likely the pool water has a high concentration of copper. Introduction of chlorine would cause an immediate oxidation of any copper particulate in the water and turn it green. Some goes for iron but it turns the water brown.
Ph likely has little to nothing to do with it.
AnswerI can only imagine it has something to do with pH. Liquid chlorine has a high pH and it may be raising your already high pH to a point where dissolved metals (eg: iron) come out of solution into suspension. Something is wrong. Tell me what is pH of water, chlorine level before and after adding iquid chlorine? AnswermetalsYou need to add a sequestering agent. These are chemicals that combine with the metals in the pool, bringing them to the surface and not allowing the metals to fall to the bottom. This prevents staining during the treatment. Run your pool filter while adding the sequestering agent and leave it running.
Water colour dis-figurations are a common problem and headache for pool owners. Sometimes, we see that there's black in pool water, but have a difficult time tracking down information on what causes it and how we can clear it up. This is because it's not as common of a problem as say, green or cloudy water. However, that doesn't mean it's not as bad. We'd all like crystal clear water, so when it's colour looks a little off we have to worry about staining and so on.
These colour changes generally appear when the pool is initially filled or after a shock treatment. This is because if the pool contains metals all ready a shock treatment will oxidize them which makes them easier to see.
Why is there white cloudy something coming out the return jets in your swimming pool?
You have one or more bad filter elements inside the filter. The filter needs to be serviced .
How do you superchlorinate a saltwater pool?
Most salt boxes will have a button or knob to add more chlorine which is how you may superchlorinate a salt pool. Otherwise there is no problem adding granular chlorine to a salt pool for it is the same sanitizer just added in a different manner.
What is better - healthier - a UV light source for sanitizing or a Salt Water Chlorinator?
A salt water pool is a chlorine pool, part of the salt is converted into chlorine electronically. I have found that regardless of the disinfection system used in a pool that the use of chlorine is the easiest and most reliable. The beauty with salt is the water fees better and you don't have to store and handle chlorine which is corrosive at best and explosive at worst. These day you can even go shopping for the type of salt you wish to use to benefit your health and the gardens around the pool.
What is the square footage of a 20' wide round pool that is 4' deep?
The square footage is the diameter 20' divided by 2 to give a radius of 10, so r=10 pi =3.14 r=10 square footage = pi*R*R to solve 3.14*10*10= 314 square feet. It sounds like you are looking for the volume of this cylinder Volume=4*pi*r*r 1256 cubic feet or 1257.142857142856 cubic feet if you carry the constant pi out more decimal places
What does green water signify?
You have green algae the best way to treat this it to super chlorinate the water and or ad an algaecide allow the water to settle and vacuum the dead algae of the pool floor. You may have to use a floculant to help settle the algae to the pool floor.
