How does terrorism effect the economy?
It has added a lot of volatility to the market. For instance, every time there is a "crisis" in the Middle East (Iran threatens Israel, etc), the price of oil goes up. This is because a war in that region would result in a disruption in the supply of oil (see the Iraq War), so any hint of a problem causes a jump in prices. Also, the attacks of 9/11 put the American economy into a recession. Whenever there is a lot of uncertainty (and the threat of terrorism does that easily), it creates a lot of risk aversion, which has a lot of negative effects on the economy such as less investment, less spending, and less risk-raking.
Why did the us take military action against the Taliban in Afghanistan?
U.S. Intelligence had long known that the Taliban in Afghanistan harboured and aided Al Qaeda who were responsible for the 9/11 attacks in New York City, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania. Furthermore they knew that Al Qaeda was responsible for previous attacks on U.S. foreign interests, U.S. warships and even targets in the U.S. during the years leading up to 9/11. The U.S. military carried out air strikes previous to our 2002 invasion of Afghanistan during several separate operations all aimed at crippling Al Qaeda operations, destroying training camps and killing leadership including Osama Bin Laden. After 9/11 it was clear that taking down the Taliban government and facilitating a new government in Afghanistan would aid in stabilizing the region (stopping the Taliban from continuing their heinous crimes towards their people) and allow us to carry out large join operations aimed at completely dissolving Al Qaeda, killing any and all members and leaders and completely disrupting their communications network and ability to operate from several locations in the Middle East. In the most simplest of terms, the U.S. took military action in Afghanistan to ensure our national security.
Terrorism may be defined as the organized use of terror to induce fear in the general public and this fear induction is the primary objective risk of the terrorists for the human race globally. Commonly terrorism refers only to the acts which are intended to generate fear and are committed for an intended goal. For Example, Lets go back to September 11th,2001. The Taliban have been put to power by the UN(United Nations), and the US built soccer fields for the local people to play. However, Laws and rules by the Taliban were harsh, some laws were that children and people were not to scream and cheer. Women could not wear mens clothes and they MUST cover their entire body, which is called a Turqa. The Taliban punished any of the people with beheadings if they broke the Laws. Remember, Taliban and Al-Qaeda are extremist religious groups, they believe what their doing is right.
1980s: Osama bin Laden runs a front organization for the mujaheddin-Islamic freedom fighters rebelling against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. The CIA secretly backs the mujaheddin. Pakistan's Prime Minister Bhutto, understanding the ferocity of Islamic extremism, tells then President George Bush, "You are creating a Frankenstein".
1994: Two attacks take place which involve hijacking planes to crash them into buildings, including one by an Islamic militant group. In a third attack, a lone pilot crashes a plane at the White House. Yet after Sept. 11, over and over aviation and security officials say they are shocked that terrorists could have hijacked airliners and crashed them into landmark buildings.
1996: The Saudi Arabian government is financially supporting Osama bin Laden's Al Qaeda and other extremist groups. After 9/11, the Bush Administration does not to confront the Saudi leadership over its support of terror organizations and its refusal to help in the investigation.
1996-1999: The CIA officer in charge of operations against Al Qaeda from Washington writes, "I speak with firsthand experience (and for several score of CIA officers) when I state categorically that during this time senior White House officials repeatedly refused to act on sound intelligence that provided multiple chances to eliminate Osama bin Laden".
1996-2001: Federal authorities have known for years that suspected terrorists with ties to bin Laden were receiving flight training at schools in the US and abroad. One convicted terrorist confessed that his planned role in a terror attack was to crash a plane into CIA headquarters.
1996-Sept 11, 2001: Taliban envoys repeatedly discuss turning bin Laden over, but the US wants to be handed bin Laden directly, and the Taliban want to turn him over to some third country. Summer 2000: A secret military operation named Able Danger identifies four future 9/11 hijackers, including lead hijacker Mohamed Atta, as a potential threat and members of Al Qaeda. Yet none of this is mentioned later in the 9/11 Commissions' final report. When questioned, the 9/11 commission's chief spokesman initially says that staff members briefed about Able Danger did not remember hearing anything about Atta. Days later, however, after provided detailed information, he says the uniformed officer who briefed two staff members had indeed mentioned Atta.

July 10, 2001: A Phoenix FBI agent sends a memorandum warning about Middle Eastern men taking flight lessons. He suspects bin Laden's followers and recommends a national program to check visas of suspicious flight-school students. The memo is sent to two FBI counter-terrorism offices, but no action is taken. - Women were forbidden to appear on the balconies of their apartments or houses.

Description of Hamas
Hamas is a Palestinian Sunni Islamic or Islamist political party that governs the Gaza Strip and the largest and most influential Palestinian militant movement along with the more moderate Fatah party and has a military wing called the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. Hamas is viewed by most Western analysts as an obstacle to the Arab-Israeli peace process and the goal of a two-state solution. As a result, Western nations, including the United States, have tried to embolden the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority while isolating Hamas, which has historically kept strong ties to Iran.
Hamas was founded by Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, a Palestinian spiritual leader who became an activist in the local branch of the Muslim Brotherhood after dedicating his early life to Islamic scholarship in Cairo. Beginning in the late 1960s, Yassin preached and performed charitable work in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, both of which were seized by Israeli forces following the 1967 Six-Day War. In 1973, he established al-Mujamma' al-Islami (the Islamic Center) to coordinate the Brotherhood's political activities in Gaza.
Hamas' primary base of popular support is in the Gaza Strip, where it has maintained de facto control since its 2006, when it surprised many observers by winning the majority of seats in the Palestinian parliament. Hamas ousted the remnants of Fatah from Gaza by force in early 2007, and the new Hamas-led government was summarily dismissed by PA president and Fatah chief Mahmoud Abbas. How did the Reign of terror contribute to the French Revolution?
The Reign of Terror (27 June 1793 - 27 July 1794), also known as the The Terror (French: la Terreur) was a period of violence that occurred for one year and two months after the onset of the French Revolution, incited by conflict between rival political factions, the Girondins and the Jacobins, and marked by mass executions of "enemies of the revolution." The reasons there was terrorism in Ireland are long and complex and can be traced back through over 800 years of Irish history. In short, Ireland was under British rule and wanted independence and in 1922 most, though not all, of Ireland got independence. The part that remained under British still wanted independence and some there resorted to violence to achieve that and others there who wanted to stay under British rule also resorted to violence. The IRA are a based on religion (a war between Catholics and protestants). It is not an issue of nationality although they do tend to have an issue with the British.... as the British are the people at fault for the war in the first place. The IRA however are no longer active and the conflict in Northern Ireland is no longer an issue to worry about

The issue started when the Pope declared via a Papal Letter that Ireland was a possession of England . This was in 1155. It was initially ignored by the then King of England - Plantagenet Henry 2
By 1171 a Norman Leader had become a Lower King of Ireland -this threatened H2 so he went in with the Norman warriors.The 1155 letter was used as justification

a) Ireland was to partitioned. Normans one area -Gaelic tribes in the other
b) He made himself Lord of Ireland

This title was not passed to his No1 son Richard who subsequently succeeded his father. . If Richard had have had offspring then outcomes would be very different.
In the event he gave the title to his 2nd son -John. H2 attempted to make John the King of Ireland -Thus separating England From Ireland. The Pope said No!
No body foresaw that John would ever be King of England.
John became King(1199) and retained the Lordship of Ireland title.
This was subsequently passed to future English Kings.
The net affect was that English Kings had Rights over Ireland and No balancing Responsibilities.
Ireland was mostly ignored by Future Plantagenet Kings.
That all changed in 1485 when the Plantagenet dynasty suddenly ended.
The new King H 7 was Welsh and his successor H8 was English in the true sense.

Often times, the environment we grow up in influences the thoughts we have and the decisions we make.
Many suicide bombers come from backgrounds where they are brainwashed into believing they are doing the right thing by killing others-
Religion, geography, political influences and economic conditions may all play a role in their decision,
A suicide bomber may seek martyrdom, honor, rewards in the afterlife or may even do it so that their family receives monetary compensation.
Or some people may just be inherently evil and gain pleasure from harming others -
Whatever the reason, in the end of the day there is no justified reason for murdering innocent people.
What are some similarities and differences between Al-Qaeda and the Taliban?
Al-Qaeda
Al-Qaeda is an international terrorist organization. Al-Qaeda's mission is to bring about the Fall of the West and the Islamicization (both cultural, religious, and political) of Western Nations. Their organization sought refuge in several Arab and Muslim countries and found space to grow in Afghanistan until the American Invasion in 2001. Since that point, they have grown cells in numerous other countries, but focused their greatest efforts in franchising. Franchising means that a nondescript Arab militant group will begin to call themselves Al-Qaeda and advocate for Al-Qaeda's goals without actually being connected to Al-Qaeda's central command structure. In return, Al-Qaeda will donate funds to this militant group to pursue its aims. As a result, people who identify as Al-Qaeda may not even be connected to the Al-Qaeda leadership in the same way that the individual owners of McDonald's Restaurants do not necessarily have a connection with McDonald's Executives.
Taliban
The Taliban is a specific political Islamist Party/Militant Organization. The Taliban has certain political aims: the control of Afghanistan and parts of Pakistan. The Taliban also were able to hold national control in Afghanistan and ruled it according to some of the most barbaric interpretations of Shari'a Law. As a result, they spread out through national channels such as police and justice departments. The Taliban, consequently, has very limited aims that came in direct contravention of American interests only in 2001 when the United States invaded Afghanistan. The Taliban, while supporting Al-Qaeda, were not (prior to 2001) interested in the latter's goal of attacking and Islamicizing the West. They are still opposed to exerting resources to achieve these goals, but do focus their efforts on removing the Northern Alliance government of Afghanistan and leading that country again.
What kind of government do the Hamas have?
First, there is the debate as to whether Palestine is a country or not. For the moment, let us avoid that debate and consider "Palestine" to refer to any are within the former Mandate of Palestine not under de jure Israeli control.
There are currently two distinct Palestinian Governments: the Palestinian Authority and the Hamas-Government.
The Palestinian Authority is the only internationally-recognized legitimate government of Palestine. It is a Parliamentary Democracy formed of an elected Parliament. The two main parties prior to 2007 were the political wings of Fatah and Hamas. After the Palestinian Civil War, Hamas has been removed from the Parliament, effectively making it a Fatah dictatorship.
The Hamas Government is an unrecognized "rogue" state. It is typically considered a One-Party Dictatorship with recognized heads in the Gaza Strip. Additionally, there is a central coordinating and directing wing in Damascus, Syria.

As for their political views, below are two opinions on what the Taliban represent. Most Westerners and Muslims stand in opposition to the Taliban, but there is certainly a large minority of Muslims who endorse the vision of the Taliban.

Taliban believe in following Islamic Law which is the best way of living and gives equal opportunities to both Muslims and Non-Muslims.
Islamic laws, mostly interpreted negatively, are unparalleled by any other law ever formulated. Generally considered as inhumane punishments only, Islamic Laws, when implemented in the true sense, are only harsh for the wrongdoers. History has shown that with the proper implementation of Islamic Laws, crimes have substantially decreased.
Yes, there are a few people who are involved in thefts, ransom, killings and many other dreadful crimes and call themselves Taliban, however, they are not at all Talibans, rather they are agents hired by Indians, Israel, America, Russia and other anti Islamic Christian nations. They have been caught and have admitted of being paid by the above mentioned criminals who call themselves great democratic countries. Utter nonsense. The Taliban are followers of the Wahhabi form of Sunni Islam. To say that the Taliban were tolerant of anyone is pure fiction. The Taliban had no tolerance for anyone other than fellow Wahhabi Muslims to include other Muslims. They not only endorsed but assisted Osama Bin Laden in his war against the west and anyone not Wahhabi. Thousands of innocent Afghan men, women and children were slaughtered without cause, trial or defense by these butchers. Religion of peace is a nice slogan but the facts bear out differently. The Taliban banned just about everything in life that could bring happiness and joy including: anything made from human hair, satellite dishes, cinematography, any musical equipment, pool tables, chess, masks, alcohol, videotapes, computers, VCRs, television, any sexual products, wine, lobster, nail polish, firecrackers, statues, sewing catalogs, pictures, Christmas cards and more.

Further to the unqualified statements in the Pro-Taliban answer, some of the punishments imposed by the Taliban include cutting off limbs, decapitation and stoning for relatively minor offenses, forms of torture to reform behavior, and numerous other actions in contravention to International Law and Human Rights. Most Westerners believe that these actions are unjust, even if the person is 100% guilty of the crime, since there is an inherent dignity in being human which is not compromised by guilt. As to the "proof" that all Taliban caught of vicious crimes against the Afghan and Pakistani citizenry, their property, and their livelihoods are not "real Taliban" but imposters, there is no grounding to this assertion. Even if such individuals have disavowed their connection to the Taliban, this could be under duress (since many are tortured to achieve this confession) or their desire not to "slander" the Taliban. The Taliban videoed many of their Human Rights abuses specifically because they were proud of their depravity.
This is not to say that Shari'a Law if implemented properly could not be the highest quality of law, securing human and property rights. The problem is that nobody seems to know what this "proper" implementation looks like or if they believe that they do, they are immediately contested by individuals with a more liberal or conservative view. Issues of contention are not trivial banalities, such as freedom of speech, equality vs. apartheid, freedom of association, taxing by wealth or taxing by ethnicity/religion, etc.

The Taliban are a Private Military Company over in the Middle East and South East Asia.
In the 1980's they were used for fighting Communist Russia out of the Middle East.
Now they're doing the same to America.
