Nuclear power dominates, which is especially true in Toronto where the Pickering nuclear power plant is right next-door.

Coal is going to be phased out in the next few years for the province and be replaced by more renewables (hydro, wind).

One notable energy generator in Toronto is the wind turbine downtown, which is currently generating enough electricity to power about 250 homes, see: http://www.torontohydro.com/corporate/initiatives/green_power/wind_turbine/index.cfm

How far is Haliburton Highlands from Toronto Ontario?

2 to 3 hours, depending on how fast you drive and where in the Haliburton Highlands region you are wanting to get to. For example, here is driving route (including distance and time) info from Toronto to the town of Haliburton:

http://www.mapquest.com/mq/10-_hn4xC12

Also keep in mind that time of year can make a big difference to travel times. Although the roads are all generally well maintained, it is still mostly single-lane in each direction -- and with a lot of extremely hilly terrain, it can be difficult to safely pass trucks or other slow moving vehicles. If travelling between approx. mid-May to mid-September (particularly on a weekend) you will be sharing these small highways and roads with thousands of other vehicles heading to camps, resorts and cottages.
