Who was the Harlem hellfighters?

A National Guard Regiment from New York, the 15th NY, whose members called themselves "the 15th Heavy Foot". When called into Federal Service for WWI the Regiment was redesignated the 369th Infantry and assigned to the 93rd Division. The 92nd and 93rd Divisions were black troops, with white officers. Various wealthy New Yorkers took an interest in the Regiment, and subsidized its band, which was able to secure the services of some of the best professional musicians in New York with this ability to supplement Army pay. In Europe the band played numerous concerts, frequently at hospitals to entertain the wounded. No one who saw them perform ever forgot it. The bandleader was named Jim Europe. Racial prejudice kept the 93rd Division from taking a place in the line with other American units. The US sent a total of over 40 divisions to France during WWI, and about 8 of those were denied a place in combat, being required to work behind the lines in the Service of Supply as Depot Divisions, and providing men as replacements for other units in action. The French however had a different attitude, having black colonial troops of their own, such as the Senegalese. The 369th was offered to the French, who accepted promptly, and the 369th compiled an enviable combat record serving in French formations, at the front for many months. An officer (white) of the regiment published a Regimental history in the 1930s, "From Harlem To The Rhine".

What are some examples of an army custom?

never turn and walk away to avoid giving a hand salute

One important army custom is the salute. There are strict rules for who must or must not salute. Soldiers must salute senior officers unless their hands are occupied in work that would make a salute impossible. If a soldier is imprisoned, he loses the right to salute. Another custom is the playing of the Army Song at various parades and ceremonies.

How does the war powers act illustrate separation of powers?

Prior to the enactment of the War Powers Act of 1973 the president of the United States had nearly unlimited authority as Commander-in-Chief to wage war and police actions. The enactment of the act served to empower to Congress to ultimately have to be consulted to authorize funding and support of deployments and military action after a certain period. In this method the sovereignty of Congress is further affirmed through its ability to approve military action (even without a formal declaration) and its power to check and balance executive control of the armed forces.

What happen if an army soldier marry an air force soldier?

There are no soldiers in the Air Force - soldier is a term exclusive to the Army. Airman is the term for Air Force personnel.

As for what happens.. they become a married couple, the same as if anyone else gets married. Depending on a number of circumstances, it may or may not lead to measures being taken to ensure that they are stationed together - however, this cannot be guaranteed.

Can you get back in the army after an unclassified discharge?

Unclassified discharge? When you were discharged, there was some characterization of service in there... if you were discharged from a reserve component, you'd have received a set of orders in the mail. If you were discharged from active duty, you'd have a DD-214. Basically, you're looking to get back into an Army which is downsizing and going all out to release personnel. If you're to have even a chance of getting back it, you'd better have an RE1 reentry code and either a 201, 202, or 203 separation code - anything else, and you can pretty much count yourself out.

What are chaplains?

Chaplains are pastors to people in the armed forces such as the Navy and Army. Chaplains are also used in hospitals. So they do not necessarily belong to one church but minister to a much larger group.

Answer

Chaplains can also be found in hospitals, nursing homes, or any other place where the people or patients are unable to attend religious services. It is also important to note that chaplains may be of almost any faith including, but not limited to: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, etc. As is stated in the first answer, chaplains, military chaplains in particular, need to be familiar with many types of beliefs as they are not normally speaking to groups of people who are of only one faith.

Answer:

Chaplains are paid ecclesiastics funded by a military, public service, health or education organization to provide references to an outdated middle eastern medieval mystic dogma of a specific denomination under the pretence of being a life counselling service in place of actual counselling while diverting funding from needed operations of that service. Generally they are chosen from one of the "majority" religions on the pretext that they will be acceptable to other religious groups.

Why does the Army need veterinarians?

Military veterinarians typically have three primary duties they rotate between during the day or week: clinical care of animals, food safety, and outreach/service. Depending upon the specific unit the veterinarian is assigned to, he will provide clinical care (physical examination, treatment, routine preventive care, etc) to service animals (dogs are common, as are horses for ceremonial purposes in Washington DC) and/or to the companion animals of servicemembers and their families (household pets such as dogs and cats, usually). Second, military veterinarians are tasked with ensuring the food safety of supplies procured from local vendors. At facilities in the US, this is generally limited to inspecting the various vendors (think hot dog carts, food trucks and similar businesses); at foreign posts, the veterinarian would also inspect and verify the various restaurants and suppliers around the base that are used by the military. Third, veterinarians perform a great deal of outreach and service to the communities they are in - assisting with low cost spay/neuter days, vaccinating for rabies, providing livestock herd examinations, etc. The actual service will vary depending upon location.
