You can purchase a Towbar for a Vauxhall Astra online through the eBay auction website. You may also have luck finding one on websites such as PF Jones and Towsure as well.

Look for a lever under the dashboard. Pull the lever and you should hear the bonnet (US = hood) release a little. Look at the front of the car and you should see a small safety cash sticking out of the grill. Pull on the latch and the bonnet should be released enough for you to lift it.

It usually happens when the A/C system is low on gas, usually due to a leak or a broken component part.

is the quick answer. if it is because the key wont turn (very common on these) you can still start it by holding the key in the immobilizer pickup and turn the ignition switch with a screw driver but you might have to drill the retaining pin out of the lock barrel.

I Think there must be soemthing wrong with one of your valve or valves, so you need to do your top and replace the valve or valves that are faulty.

Astra 2.2's are chain driven instead of belt and are meant to last the life of the engine.However,there are reports of them snapping so I would get it looked at to make sure

there is some trick like turning key on and off (just to power, not engine on) three times and than pushing the unlock button on the fob, that should reprogram it. also, i have to press and hold mine for 1 second, then the door unlocks when i release - NOT while its pushed down.

Some additional info:

* Programming the 1997 Volvo 850 remote is explained in detail in the 850 user manual.

* Basically turn the key from position I (off) to position II (on) [not start position III]

5 times in 30 seconds. Then push a button on the remote. This should allow the

car to recognize the remote.

* On my remote I needed to clean the contacts to get BOTH lock and unlock to work.

My remote would lock but not unlock. Take remote apart and clean contacts.

The release lever is on the drivers side of the car (for Right hand drive cars) down by your feet. If pulling the lever is not working, pull the lever, and get a second person to gently thump the bonnet in the middle at the front. This MIGHT shake the lock free if it's a bit stiff. Remember to lube the lock if this works.

With ignition OFF, hold in the mileage trip counter, swith on the ignition without starting the car. Wait 10 seconds and it resets the service indicator.

Its the same on the citroen berlingo and many other cars

Vauxhall now recommend a change of cam belt every 40,000 miles or every 4 years.

The used to say 80,000/8 years but they had too many failures.

Have a kit fitted, this includes the tensioners.

Opel astra is an excellent , stable ,fast and very strong car .

But there is one problem I as an owner found ,it's that opel astra is slow a bit in low gears ( first and second ) but in high gears it's very fast and stable in high speeds.

how old is the astra? but more importantly what engine and gearbox does it have? early engines with certain manual gearboxes you can change the clutch without removing the gearbox and subsequently saving about 4hours labour time. otherwise it is a gearbox outjob.
