The only splash shield I know of is under the engine. It stretches from under the radiator to the part of the frame that also hold the engine mounts. It protects the engine from water splashing up into the engine compartment. If you dont see one, it was probably removed by another mechanic/owners.

Go to the fuse box at the driver's side and remove the radio fuse for 3 hours then replace.

The owners manual of a US market 1996 960 states towing capacity as 1100 lbs. without brakes and 3300 lbs. with trailer brakes.

I would suspect that the pick up coil is defective. The coil has a number of names but is essentually a small magnetic coil that initiates the spark. The fine wires can connect or separate depending on the temperature.

Built in in the hazard light switch.

Using a set of gauges you will put the blue hose on the low side which is the suction side and the red hose on the high side which is the discharge side and using the remaining yellow hose you will attach the can of freon and add the correct amount plus add oil as well........

firing order is 1342 for a Volvo 960 (1996)

1342 is the firing order for a 4 cylinder which would be a 940- as for the 960, the order is 153624 where 1 is closest to the front of the car and 6 to the cabin. (for 2.9 liter motors in '96 960)

You probably have a leak in the AC system or the AC compressor failed. Mine had metal particles in the AC lines that prevented fluid from flowing and practically blocked the AC flow. This is a filter in the AC line right under the AC condenser attached to the frame. Any AC shop charges $75 to check and diagnose.Any car AC system has seals and with age they fail.

The hood hydraulic lifters run about $80 for the pair.

Have you checked the fluid level, It could have lost a little fluid over the years even sitting there.

I believe the 2002-2007 stock CD player is not compatible with the 2001 van. Either way, if you have the right CD player, you'll need to take out the old one. I don't remember specifically how, I found instructions online a while ago though. It goes something like this: open the cup holder, remove all screws, pop out small piece of gray plastic above cup holder, remove all screws, pull hard on bottom of black trim around controls/radio. I recommend you run a search on google for how to do this though. If you're not installing a stock CD player, you'll probably need an adapter for the wire harness to hook it up.

My TS 100 had 5, but my TS 250 had 6. I would imagine yours has 5. The TS125 has a weak gearbox and often the 2º axle bearings break, the simphtoms start by a noisy 4º and 6º,later on you lose the 6º , and you discover you have a new dead point or neutral afther or up 5º, that´s probably you´re asking for.

no, is not a relay, your Volvo has a little plastic screw under the headlights switch
you can use a tiny flat screwdriver and turn the are 3 positions, one of them keep the lights off, and lights will work only turning the switch. the other positions are for the automatic mode.

Unless I'm mistaken , if a timing belt goes on ANY car it WILL damage the engine. If you whack the clutch in and stop immediately you may limit the damage. Timing belt change intervals vary. Halfords or eBay haines manual £13 new will tell you what the correct timing belt change intervals are. usually 30-60 K miles depending on make. I would never risk it... unless we're talking old banger. On a US market 960, you will have major damage if your timing belt breaks. The engine is what is called an interference engine. The scheduled replacement interval is 70k. If the last replacement is in question, replace the belt.

You will need to remove the serpentine belt from around all your components (ac, alternator, power steering pump, pulley, crankshaft). Then there are two 14mm bolts holding the alternator onto the assembly shaft. The manual suggests you remove the power steering pump first and then the alternator, so that you have more room. But you can also do it without. I would really suggest buying a manual before doing this. It is a simple procedure that will take a shade tree mechanic about 2.5 hours to complete.

its probably the one cable broke or the outer come out of the bracket it fits into,the way to get at it is to take off the front bumper/fender then you can take the front flashers out (with a good pull) then both headlights then unplug both foglights and you can then get at the catches easy without breaking anything,destroying the grill will not help at all the bumper is held on by 3 nuts each side ,it just slides out of the side panels and you can take it off on the floor in about 1 hour

It is on front of the engine on the driver's side. First, drop the plastic cowling that is attached by two screws. It will swing forward out of the way revealing the oil filter. If not for the cowling, the filter would be obvious to anyone.

I have 2 earlier 960's. The oxygen sensor - the lambda is situated on the catalytic converter, which is below the driver seat on a right hand drive car. It has a slight angle to it where it fits into the cat. To change it is quite straightforward.

There is no remote trunk release. You must get out and open it using the handle.

I've seen key blanks online for about $10. Cutting them is a local operation. Probably about $5 at the hardware store, or more at the dealer.

You need to refer to the manual. But to partially answer the question, you will need to torque the head bolts in three stages. Two of those stages require a torque wrench and the third requires a torque angle measuring gauge. I ve dont this twice and you REALLY need a manual for this OR check some Volvo forums.
