What are two problems p2p file-sharing systems can cause?
List two problems P2P file-sharing systems can cause.
I made the costly mistake myself, in turn I have learned that if you are attempted to disable services on you Windows XP you should create a secondary hardware profile*
and make changes to it instead. Back Up registry, and any information you would not want to lose. The RPC service if disabled in the hardware profile will prevent you from being able to paste, or send data to removable drives, prevent you from updating windows, prevent you from using Windows Installer, prevent you from transfering data over your network to/from that PC. Basically wreak havoc on your world.
1. Check to see if service is started
Start-> Run-> services.msc
RPC service and select start
2. Select RPC service in msconfig
Start-> Run->msconfig->services tab->enable all Microsoft services
3. Back Up registry back
Click on File-> Export->Select somewhere where you can find it like My Documents->Click Save
4. Click+ HKey_Local_Machine -> Click+ System-> Click+ CurrentControlSet->Click+ Services-> Click on RpcSs folder-> Right click on Start in the right pane-> Select modify-> change value to 2-> Click ok-> Exit Registry and restart you computer.
5. This is the fix that did it for me.

*Start->Right Click on My Computer->Select Properties->Select Hardware tab->Hardware Profile->copy hardware profile 1->Select new profile Properties->check box Hardware Profiles Selection->apply changes and exit window.
How do you stop found new hardware wizard in Windows XP?
You just have to keep pushing "cancel".
You can also address the issue via the System Properties (Right click My Computer). Open the Hardware tab, click Device Manager, then find the driver in the list shown (whether it be for an mp3 player, camera, smartphone, ...) and right click>>Disable. This will keep the computer from trying to install the hardware drivers every time you plug in the device and /should/ allow you to use the device normally as an external drive (if that's the device's original functionality).

When trying to defrag the C drive why do you get the message 'Drive's contents changed restarting'?
Typically, when you see the message, "Drive contents changed: restarting..." when trying to defrag the C drive, there are other programs running in the background and accessing the hard drive. So the solution would be to close them.
Stop any real-time anti-virus program before defragmenting. Try shutting down everything in your system tray and disable your screensaver. Try emptying all your caches and temp files, as well as close all programs, including background programs.
If you still have problems, you can use Task Manager to shut down extra programs that may be running. Shutting down the wrong processes may kill Windows, so save this as a last resort. What you can terminate depends on the exact Windows version.
Now if the only program left in task manager is Explorer (and the typical Windows processes like csrss.exe, winlogon.exe, rundll32.exe, taskhost.exe), then you probably have some kind of spyware such as a hidden logger. To detect those, you need to run a spyware scanning and removal program. If you don't have a spyware removal program, sometimes you can find evidence of spyware by checking for log files they might create. Use Explorer to look for anomalous log files. Then find the program that created them and delete them all.
Where to download generic video driver?
The driver included in Windows XP and later is about as "generic" as it gets. There can't be a better generic driver because that would require that the reasons there are separate drivers were not true. Video cards have different ways of implementing things like higher resolutions and hardware acceleration, that the companies aren't all willing to reveal to everyone.

What are the risks of opening a file?
It depends on where the file is coming from. The biggest risk is that (especially from the internet or from an unknown sender in an email) the file will run a virus that attacks the computer in various ways. Also, the file may be corrupted (totally unreadable), or it could have some sort of spyware in it which sends another person any passwords or usernames that you type in when you are on the computer. Basically the best thing to do is assess the risk and if it is too high, don't open it.
