If you see small whitish blotches and only flat on the surface, it is probably the fats separating slightly and called "bloom". This is usually caused by wide temperature variations from room temperature like freezing or softening in the car. In this case, it's fine to eat and remelting the chocolate should put it back as it was.
But mold is possible over a long enough time in hot damp circumstances, at first hard to tell apart from bloom, but in time will be fuzzy/furry white and totally obvious. Discard, don't eat it.

Can cooking provide a comfortable life economically?
Cooking, baking, and all subsidiaries of those professions can make you anywhere from minimum wage to quite a hefty salary. It really depends on a) how good you are, b) how good your connections are, c) what you intend to do with your passion for food, and d) what your definition of "comfortable" is.
It's really difficult to say that it can or can't provide a comfortable life because it depends on what you do with it. If you end up a breadmaker in a small bakery, you could be looking at $13/hour upward. If you are a personal chef, you can make much more than that. If you're working as a chef for a small restaurant, you're not looking at much above minimum wage again. If you're looking to own your own catering business or restaurant, then it raises yet again.
It also depends on if you've been professionally trained in your field of cooking or if you're going off what your mother taught you (not that there's anything wrong with that-- but you're much more likely to get a job if you were taught by professionals). Even Pampered Chef, a company that sells cooking supplies, involves a lot of cooking and can make you quite a bit of money if you're good at it. (Source: This is what my aunt has started doing as a living.)
So the answer is really yes, and no. Sorry I can't be more specific. If you'd like more information, the U.S. government has a page of job statistics and information about some cooking-related professions.

Do girls like receiving chocolates from guys?
As a girl myself, I think it is very flattering to receive a gift of any type. Most people like chocolates, so it is also a very 'safe' gift. However, some girls find chocolate to be too standard of a gift, so for a special occasional, you may want to try something more creative.
