Have many circus performers been injured while performing?
Yes. It's not a common occurrence nowadays, however it does still happen. The stunts performed in many circuses are quite dangerous, and the requirements for joining in the past were very lax. As the industry has grown more professional so have the requirements to join. As more training is required to join the number of injuries has drastically dropped.
How do you pound a nail into your nose?
Very very carefully. ;) Seriously.
This trick is called "The Human Blockhead" for obvious reasons. Some performers have been known to do this with hand or power drills, screwdrivers, Pens or pencils and a multitude of other things.
This is NOT something to try on your own. The nail used is not a trick nail and putting it in at the wrong angle or too far could cause serious irreversible health problems.
The easiest thing to do is mention that it is not an illusion, the nail is real, it does take skill and practice, and you insert the nail into your sinus cavity. For the rest of the info you may want to know and some great pictures explaining how this works check out the "how stuff works" link below.
Information technology in the field of circus cinema movies?
The cinema developed very quickly in the early 20th century, once the technology had been invented to make copies of films and transport them around the country cheaply. Sound recording and film technology were eventually brought together in the talking film. The existence of these other technologies meant also that: (a) Prints of the same films could therefore be carried easily around the country and shown in different places at the same time. (b) The cinema also added moving pictures to the news in the form of the weekly newsreel, the main source of visual news for most people before the arrival of the television. This was very important during the Second World War. (c) The cinema also changed the social lives of many people, with a visit to the cinema on either Friday night or Saturday (rarely Sunday) being a weekly event for a large number of people. Cinema audiences were at their highest from the 1930s, with the invention of the talking film, to the early 1950s, when more and more people started to watch television.

Are clowns the best part of a circus?
I frankly like the part where the tiger attacks the trainer, the elephant goes on a rampage and tears down the big top, a fire starts and the crowd stampedes and kills forty-six people. ....But that's just me.
One must consider the above reply rather sick but if that is this persons humour it is not clowning!
Clowns are not the best part of a circus but they are certainly a very necessary part to break up a show and keep it light. Good clowning is necessary bad clowning is best left out altogether!
In Europe there is no real tradition for what is called 'track clowning'. These were singular clowns that made short comic interludes outside of the main ring during fixings. Only Billy Smarts toured a track in Britain. More popular in America. Most European circuses have just the central ring that should require a troupe (or family) of clowns to present set slapstick acts. Again, Billy Smarts engaged a large family of 12 who performed two 20 minute 'acts' of great comedy.
All shows should have comic interludes of some kind and we know that Ice Shows have done this, also Variety Show (Vaudeville Shows) always had the top comedian to break up the performance and keep it light - the 'clown' in effect.
One should and must appreciate that children have a vastly different attitude to what is funny to what adults think is funny and producers should be most careful with show humour to make sure that the comedy can reach both adults and children. Very good clowning does this (I have also seen some terrible clowning!)
