gnats and maybe sweat bees Gnats don't bite and sweat bees are much larger than a flea. May want to search a bit more for this answer. In Georgia, we called them Noseeums, pronounced NO-SEE-UMS. They are smaller that a flea and are more light brown than black. Only strong insect repellant works against them. As kids, we all thought this was a made up name, but it wasnt. Its also called the biting midge.

Some predators eat insects. A predator can be defined as any organism that eats other organisms, and as such even cows can be considered predators (of plants). Of the thousands of species of songbirds I would estimate that about half of them eat insects alone.
