What three poluntants react in the presence of sunlight to produce ozone?
Nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide and volatile organic compounds are the three pollutants that react in the presence of sunlight to produce ozone. They are also called the ozone precursors.
What causes the motor to knock constantly on a 1992 Mazda MPV when there is plenty of oil?
May need a valve job or, the lifters might need adjusting.
I have heard that lifter noise is a common problem.
From day one I have put in slick 50 every 3 oil changes.
I put 5w-20w synthetic oil in every time. Also Lucas oil treatment, when I don't put in the slick 50. Runs quite as a baby. 362K and still going strong.
Water stripping from tanker oil sludge?
An oil tanker has 2 sources of oil sludge or waste. The tanks and the engine room.
In the oil tanks the residue after tank cleaning gets pumped into the slop tanks which are 2 tanks usually the last 2 tanks on the cargo deck.
They are specially constructed with heating and has a shape which make them easy to pump down.
after all the residue has been pumped into the slop tanks they will be heated up and that will help the separation of oil and water. when a water layer has been measured under the oil the water will get pumped out. during this pumping a sample of water will continually get measured for oil content. The measurement is getting performed by ODME (Oil Discharge Monitoring Equipment) and if the measurement is higher than 15 PPM (Parts Per Million) the valves will automatically close and bypass the overboard discharge.
The left over sludge or slop will be send to a plant ashore for burning.
How long does it take metal to decompose?
Metals do not decompose. They rust. In a way, you can consider rust a metal;s form of decomposition, but not really....
Actually, only iron rusts. Many metals are oxidized which results in rust, patina, etc. And the length of time varies with environmental conditions and the type of metal.
Why do you not use hydrogen as a fuel in vehicles?
Hydrogen is a gas and would have to be stored under high pressure in a car to be used as a fuel. In the event of a crash with a car containing a cylinder of pressurized hydrogen the cylinder could rupture and any sort of ignition would cause the very flammable hydrogen to catch resulting in an explosion. A cylinder containing hydrogen in a car is a potetnial bomb. This is why the use of hydrogen is still mostly unseen in the automotive industry
Do you have to pay to declare your car off the road?
In most of the US, they actually pay you a pro-rate of the time left on your registration. If you are still making payments on a financed vehicle, this is not recommended. Take the tag and registration to the courthouse and surrender it. If you are also canceling insurance, make sure to surrender the tag and reg FIRST as most states have fines for canceling insurance on registered cars. Some states' fines are VERY expensive. You don't have to surrender the title though.
How does toxic waste effect sea animals?
Industrial waste in the sea will cause contamination of water. The water may be unsuitable for drinking. Marine life will be greatly affected. Fishes in the sea will be poisoned by the polluted water and die out. Marine plants will also be harmed, and the waste may block out sunlight, preventing their growth. The water will also flow into other bodies of water and contaminate them as well, creating a chain effect.
What isthemeaning of waste segregation?
It enables more of the waste to be recycled, which reduces the drain on resources and energy when new stuff is being produced. It also reduces the amount of stuff that has to go to landfills, which is also environmentally good.
How do you fix a water pressure problem?
Is your filter in? I'm asking for the simple reason that your running at 2-3lbs, if you were running at 25+ then I would say your having a restriction problem somewhere. (Filter, skimmers, maindrains and so on.) Is this a new or old pool? Did you have a pool company maintaining it? where are you from (weather)? maybe a suction line has a hole or crack. This would be a good one to look in to. Did you pressure test all lines?
Check your pump impeller to see if it is clogged with debris. This will cause it to lose operating pressure. Also if you have a bleed line on your filter open it slightly to see if air will blow out. If it does, you have air trapped in your lines and this indicates that you have an air leak somewhere.
The question should be do you have excess pressure or little or no pressure?
k
Actually, you may have a downstream restriction. Were you cleaning your pool? I did and the DE filter was damaged so it was bypassing actually filtering anything; salt water generator became clogged. I heard the pump sound change so I went to check, reading nearly zero on the filter but pump was working (would self-prime). Removed and cleaned the salt water generator ... pressure problem solved.
How does organic waste affect the water?
Around the world, untreated sewage flows in to the waters, carrying nutrients and organic waste that can lead to oxygen depletion, as well as disease causing bacteria and parasites that require closing beaches and shellfish beds.
How did stetson wiltshire become red plastic bag?
He got his nickname from his nephew. One day after spending the entire day at sea his nephew saw him and told him that his skin resembled a red plastic bag. At the time he had already been performing but he did have a sobriquet. He then decided to use it and it worked to his advantage since a color was attached to the name.
How long does carbord decompose?
Cardboard, unless specifically treated, is relatively biodegradable. Given time, microorganisms and other decomposers will break the fibers of the cardboard down and produce soil. The rate at which this happens depends on a number of factors, including the type of cardboard being discussed, the state of the cardboard at the beginning of the decomposition process, and the nature of the surroundings in which decomposition is expected.
Because some is dumped in the ocean, obviously.
Poster on environmental issues solutions?
There is a very wide range of things you can do some examples are, overfishing, deforestication, issues with global warming, recycling, the possibilities are pretty much endless do to the fact that so many things are at risk...
Save the Whales
Save the Earth
Save the Trees
Recycle
Any of these topics would work fine, and finding the solution just requires a little research.
How long does it take a body to decompose in Florida in a plastic garbage bag?
The appended links discusses the research being carried out on corpse farms.
Research for particular situations is not generally available.
Why do you paint the outer side of the container of a solar cooker with black paint?
The scientific answer is:
There are only three ways for heat to move from one place to another:
conduction, convection, radiation.
Conduction is molecules crashing into each other. If one side of a material
is hotter than the other, heat can be conductedthrough.
Convection is molecules carrying energy through a liquid or gas. Hot air
rising is an example of convection.
Radiation is light waves passing from one material to another. Incandescent
light bulbs emit radiation because the wire within is heated.
Color has no effect on conduction or convection. It does, however, affect
radiation. Material looks dark if it absorbs most of the light that hits
it. A material that cannot absorb radiation will reflect it to your eyes,
making the material look like the color of the light. If a surface absorbs
most of the light hitting it, the surface heats up quickly.
What can happen if you waste water?
People can and will die all over the world. There would be a HUGE AMOUNT of people loosing jobs. If all the water disappears off the face of the earth, there would be no oceans, lakes, rivers, streams, and ponds. We must conserve this life saving, limited source
What are the solutions of land pollution?
Well one obvious solution would be recycling...Not only does it keep our trash off of our land and out of our soil but it reuses our waste and conserves energy...Using biodegradable products also helps...Not littering and picking up trash one sees on the ground can help and reusing things yourself. You don't necesarilly have to take your recycled trash to a recyclling place but you can reuse glass bottles at home for foods, storage, decoration, etc. also with plastic bottles, old ice cube trays, old bedframes, etc... And desposing of harmful chemicals the proper way is also another way to prevent land pollution...there are more of course so just google it
RECYCLE!!!
What are the Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater?
Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater has been the most comprehensive set of analytic methods for water and pollution analysis for over 100 years (since 1905).
It covers all aspects of water and wastewater analysis techniques. Standard Methods is published by the American Public Health Association (APHA), the American Water Works Association (AWWA), and the Water Environment Federation(WEF). In addition to being a mine of information for chemists, references are useful for field enforcement staff and first responders at spills.
As an aside, the book is a pleasure to read and a source of info to settle bar bets - e.g. Did you know cemeteries pollute the groundwater water and that a corpse can take up to ten years to decompose?
Does air pollution endanger motorcycle drivers more than car drivers?
Answer:
The quick answer to this question would have to be no... Even though many of the new vehicles have improved hepa filters for their air vents and air conditioners. Hepa are good for large and even many small particles. However they do very little to stop toxic vapors. Such as * Carbon Monoxide * Nitrogen dioxide * Sulphur dioxide * Suspended particles including PM-10, particles less than 10 microns in size. * Benzene * Formaldehyde * Polycyclic hydrocarbons And even if your car has charcoal filters unless you change them ever couple months it does little good. Some good news about a car that you can't say about a motorcycle is that if you are going into a tunnel or you enter into heavy traffic you can close your windows and trap the clean air in your car for a short time. But if you don't get out of the area quickly then it just as dirty as if you where on a motorcycle.
