Is there racism against Indians in japan?

Yes. In many ways, they are more racist than people in outher countries. Mostly, they are not violent racists, rather, they are exclusionary racists - meaning that they like to exclude other races from participation in activities, etc. in Japan.

Japan has many race-based policies, laws. The general attitude of the people is not much different. Most Japanese people think that they are unique and/or special in the world. Along with unique, many Japanese people think Japanese people are racially superior to other races.

In America, a person of Japanese descent is called an American, or a Japanese-American.

Conversely, in Japan, a person whose great grandfather was Korean, IS STILL Korean - and is segregated in school and work. Being born in Japan and speaking Japanese means nothing if your ancestors came from somewhere else.

In Japan, the propoganda/indoctrination begins early, and never stops.

From elementary school, kids are taught to treat different races differently.

They are taught that Japan has 4 seasons (uh, don't we all?), therefore, Japan has 4 times the variety of food as in other countries. Therefore, the Japanese palate (as well as brain) is more sophisticated and advanced.

The Japanese language is so hard, ONLY Japanese people can truly understand it...

Japanese people compare themselves to "foreigners" - so they are a minority in the world (there are 130 million Japanese vs. 7 billion "foreigners"

In middle and high school, foreigners (including the many 3rd and 4th generation Koreans, Chinese, etc.)cannot participate in some athletics. Since 2008, foreign exchange students have been banned from the starting leg of the Tokyo to Hakone ekiden (marathon relay race). The reason given for the ban was that the foreigners (mostly Kenyan exchange students enrolled in Japanese Universities) tended to win, and this was boring for the Japanese audience. So the average Japanese spectator is not interested in the best athlete, only the best JAPANESE athlete.

There are signs in some businesses throughout Japan sayng "no foreigners" or "Japanese only". When confronted, most Japanese people will excuse these as cultural misunderstandings, NOT RACISM. Because, they say, there is no racism in Japan.

As of this writing, there are NO;

Non-Japanese race policemen in Japan,

Non-Japanese race soldiers in the Japanese military

Yes, institutional racism is alive and well in Japan in 2010!

Is there racism in Australia?

Opinion 1: Australia is very racist. I am Asian and have cousins living in Brisbane. They say white aussies are anti-Asian. Some will openly declare their racist bones. The travel book "Lonely Planet" warns tourists of Queensland's widespread discrimination against non-white visitors. Some of my Asian friends living in Sydney also agree that they feel racial discrimination against them. Oh, and please come up with better than "No, Australia is not racist because we have all sorts of people coming to Australia as migrants and refugees", and "Oh, what about (another country)? Australia is no more racist than ...". They are as lame an excuse as they come. Just my two cents.

Opinion 2: Not really. Australia is a very multi-cultural country as many people have come to Australia as immigrants or refugees. Condemning Australia and all it's people is where you and your friends went wrong. Aussies love their country and get along with anyone that comes from overseas, however, if you do not share their love for their country then they want you out.

Opinion 3: Some Australians have racist tendencies. There are people in all cultures all around the world - not just Australia - who judge others in this way. Australia, like all countries, has some people with varying degrees of racism. Also, some actions which may be perceived as racism by others overseas are not necessarily intended to cause offence, but they may well be silly and insensitive. Some Australians may have a completely misguided sense of humor. This is also the case in many other countries and ultures across the globe. The fact that "racist activities" gain so much attention is, in fact, an indication that the great majority of Australians frown upon discrimination. If they did not, then racist activities would not be considered newsworthy. The other difference for Australia is that it is the second youngest country in the world, and thus did not experience the shame of slavery that dogged countries such as England and the USA. However, whilst "slavery" has never existed in Australia the way it did overseas, old English values of subservience being expected of the Aborigines, and the belief that they were not an intelligent people, certainly pervaded society up until around the same time that African-Americans were being awarded their natural rights as citizens of their country. In effect, it took Australia less time - relatively speaking - to learn from its racism mistakes than it took other English-speaking countries. But you will still find old racist values still abound among some members of the older generation, and sometimes these values are still passed on to younger members - just as they still are overseas.

How did people see racism during the depression?

people saw racism go from bad to worse during the depression blacks and people fro other ethnic groups within society suffer to the extremes because whatever little help there was out there it was definitely not given to them they were the first to get fired from jobs and were often in the lower social classes so were the last to get help. they were also still treated bad by the whites in society so things did not get better for them.

What is the relationship between the slave trade and racism?

Slavery led to racism in the Americas because the slaves began to be seen as nothing but slaves, their lack of experience in the real world rendered them very naive, and their culture was much different from the White's. That, combined with the ignorance of the slave owners which was compounded with things like Jim Crowe and the general atmosphere that the slaves were the inferior servants led to racism.

What came first slavery or racism?

the two terms are directly related. the white man believed that African Americans were a lower class to them. they believed that they were superior to them, so they enslaved them and used them for work.

Is there racism in Omaha Nebraska today?

Yes... Omaha is the most racist city I have ever had the misfortune of living in. African Americans and people of Hispanic decent have been forced to live in dilapidated houses on the north and south sides of the city. It is rare that you see a minority working in the private sector doing more than manual labor. We have schools in the same school district. One school issues laptops to their students and the other is using 30 year old textbooks that the students have to share. We have police and businesses violating minority rights with no lawyers that will represent them in court.

Was Michael Jackson a part of racism?

Michael Jackson spoke about Racism quite a lot and thought that everyone of every race, colour and religion should come together and 'Heal the World'. Even in concerts during his songs like 'Earth Song' or 'Heal the World', he would bring out trails of children of different colours with them holding hands, all linked together. He was really against Racism.

Lyric from Michael Jackson's song 'Black Or White' : 'If you wanna be my baby, it don't matter if your Black or White!'

Why are white people racist?

White people are no more racist than most people. Also, keep in mind that not all things that are called racism really are. Often, what people object to is not race, but behaviors and ways of interacting with the world.

The above said, there are specific reasons why people become racist. Often, that is how they were raised and what they were exposed to. A few people become racists after one or more serious incidents involving people outside of their own race.

Which African country is known for the Apartheid government?

Apartheid - or cultural separation - was official policy in the Republic of South Africa until fairly recently.

Was Walt Disney racist?

I think that he believed that every child deserves a chance to smile and that no matter how old you are, you will always have an inner child to help you through.

Walt Disney was a religious man but never went to church. Although he sent his children to Sunday School, he never forced them to choose between being a Catholic or Protestant. Disney believed that religion and entertainment should be kept separate, and never made a religious film.

Walt's father was a strong supporter of Socialist politics, but bad experiences with labor unions in 1941 drove him toward more conservative beliefs. He was proudly patriotic and made several pro-Ally, anti-Nazi cartoons during World War 2.

What did the black panthers want?

Significant improvements in the position of black people - no discrimination, equal opportunities etc.

What were laws that allowed racial segregation in public places?

Segregation in the United States began after the Civil War and the Reconstruction Act of 1867. The Civil Rights Act of 1875 actually forbade racial segregation in accommodations, but soon collapsed because of progressivism. Jim Crow segregation laws began to be passed and by 1910, full segregation was law in most Southern states.

When did the Republican Party become the party of racism?

They aren't. Civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King was a registered Republican, the first black Congressmen were republicans, and most of the greatest strides towards ending racism were led or enacted by Republicans. By contrast, the KKK was originated by Democrats, the last KKK member to serve in Congress was a Democrat (Sen. Robert Byrd), and the Civil Rights Act was opposed by Democrats almost unilaterally. The thought that Republicans are racist is a result of the Democrats' efforts to secure the vote of minorities, starting with President Lyndon Johnson infamously declaring that "I'll have those n****rs voting Democratic for the next 200 years." when it came to his efforts in creating the "Great Society". Since that time all Democrat efforts have been towards alienating the minority vote from the Republican party, which has been successful to the point that a majority of minorities believe that the party that freed the slaves, championed the Civil Rights Act, and led the way to equality in America is the biggest enemy to minorities today.

What is the name of the white south African who ended apartheid?

Racial discrimination in South Africa was opposed over at least 100 years by a number of prominent figures and literally millions of less prominent activists, fighters, workers, scholars, politicians and clerics.

The most prominent figure (best known) in modern times is Nelson Mandela.

He and F.W. de Klerk jointly received the Nobel prize for putting a formal end to apartheid.

Previously Albert Luthuli was honored with the Nobel prize for his work and before him the very famous Mohandas K. Ghandi (Mahatma) built a strong passive resistance movement in the early days of the African National Congress.

Was Disney a racist?

In the last two days I have watched 3 Disney movies that I got for my grandson. As I said in my previous post, I am glad he was not here to watch them with me and I had the chance to see them first. I watched Nightjohn which was a waste of money making other than to "remind" Blacks of where they once were (including Ruby Bridges). I am sure without good intentions.

I just watched the Princess and the Frog. What was racist about this movie? The movie starts with the little rich White girl, with the name Charlotte and the deep southern accent, living in a mansion. The little dark-skinned Black girl is the daughter of their seamstress. They show her mother and her leaving the rich white neighborhood to board the train to go to the poor side of town.

Skip, skip.... There are things in this movie no child should watch: evil, death, voodoo and of course the villain is Black. Skip, skip... she finds her Prince frog and after they are married and she becomes a Princess he is transformed to a Prince (with straight hair, not an Afro). So why does the movie not end there? It goes on to show "a Black Prince" buying a rundown building and transforming it, not into a palace, but into a NIGHTCLUB palace.

Disney, I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt with this movie, but once again, all I see is racism.
