Racism is considered to be an ameliorative problem because the challenge of erasing racism benefits or uplifts society. The process of removing racism from society creates a better society.

Racism is a way of thinking some people have. In the U.S. you can't be arrest for having a certain way of thinking unless you physically harm another person or infringe on the rights and freedoms of others.

Whether a country is good or bad is an opinion. Good or bad things can be found on everything.

China is one of the oldest civilizations on Earth. It has great material wealth. Its factories can produce many goods at very low cost. It amazed the world with the spectacular show at the Olympics.

However the industrialization has led to air and water pollution. China is also accused of many human rights violations.

For now, people of European origin ("whites") make up the majority in the US and certainly have the most economic and political clout (generally, not universally). As such, they are expected to enjoy the security of their position, "have broad shoulders" and not suffer as greatly from racism as minorities do.

When the majority becomes a minority, this will likely change.

Discrimination and xenophobia are endemic conditions to a tribal animals, such as humans are. From the earliest periods of city-states, we see discrimination against the residents of other city-states and peoples of the periphery. The city-states encouraged this in their propaganda to make their population more ready to defend the government of those states.

However, particular instances of discrimination, such as Anti-Black Racism, Anti-Semitism (Judenhass), Anti-Ziganism, Anti-Catholic hatred, Anti-Protestant hatred, Anti-Muhammadanism, etc. come as a result of particular political experiences and historical circumstances. For example, anti-Black Racism developed from the European need to justify the mass enslavement of Black peoples prior to shipping them en masse to the Americas. Prior to this, Blacks were simply a different group of people who were inferior because they were different than "civilized people", just as Vikings were. However, in the 15th and 16th centuries literature developed "explaining" that Blacks were an especially accursed and more monkey-like people and, therefore, it was not only just to enslave them, but desirable since they could be "acculturated" by the European civilizations that would rob them of their lives.

Racism is in the heart, overt prejudice is the expression of racism. When the racist behaves in a prejudicial manner they are open to the scrutiny of their peers. People constantly seek the approval of their peers and hide their true feelings so they will not be looked down upon as they look down on others.

Racism isn't just between Black people and White people. Racism can be felt between any two cultures. Blacks and Asians can hate each other as well as Whites and Latinos. This day and age racism should be a thing of the past.
