Battery farmed chicken is cheaper than free range, but that is the only thing about battery hens that are good. When you eat plant foods, all the energy and material from that plant goes straight to your body. If a hen eats the same plant food, and soon it would be killed to that it could be eaten, not all the original energy and material that was in the plant would be passed on to your body.

What procedure do scientists go through to test cosmetics on animals?
There are three tests: the Draize test (securing rabbits' heads in a clamp and dripping the product in their eyes, then killing the rabbits after a while to study their eyes), skin reactivity tests (they use either shaved rabbits or hairless animals, apply the product to the skin, then kill the animals after a while to study their bodies) and the worst one, the LD50 test. The LD50 test is run on many products, not just cosmetics. It's especially run on medicines. They use 100 animals and either force down their throats, apply to their skins or inject them with a certain dose of the product. Two weeks later, they count the number of animals that remain alive. If only 50 are left, the test is over--LD50 is the dose that kills half the animals that receive it. (They then kill the rest of the animals.) You may need to shave the Maine off of a male lion if that is what you are smuggling. It is advisable to knock the animal out before doing this, as they get kind of testy when you don't.
If you have a gorilla, try dressing it in an old, frumpy dress, and put a flowery straw hat on it and give it a large purse. You can buy a plane ticket for it, and if they give you any lip about the gorilla you have with you, just say "What a horrible thing to say about my grandmother!!!". This will cause terrible feelings of guilt in the accuser, and they should totally lay off you.
Remember that in the United States it is difficult to keep these things hidden. Please make sure you have a house big enough to contain your smuggled animal. If you live in an apartment, a chinchilla is fine, but a tiger is not. If you are Jay-Z, you can keep a tiger in doors, but a blue whale means you need to spring for a salt water lake out back. Again, use your best judgment.
