What phobia is the fear of not existing?

There does not appear to be a scientific term to specifically describe a fear of not getting what you want. This question, however, can be interpreted in two ways: 1) in a more literal sense, as in a fear of 'being unable to obtain material things' due to lack of finances, education, or whatever you perceive is disallowing you to obtain them, and 2) in the sense that your fear is of 'not achieving perceived important life goals', ie. marriage, children, the perfect job, a close circle of dependable friends, etc.

Your fear may stem from one of these:

Atychiphobia is the fear of failure.

Decidophobia is the fear of making decisions.

Hypengyophobia is the fear of responsibility.

My advice is this: Make a list of all of the things you think you want, both material things and otherwise. Now pick the three that are most important to you and start thinking of ways that you can obtain them. Share your goals with friends, family, classmates or colleagues since often they have great ideas on how to help you to achieve them. They can also be very encouraging when you need a 'boost', or things aren't going quite the way you would like them to.

If your current priorities are material things, then make a plan to save a bit of your income each paycheck (it doesn't matter how small the amount, the important thing is to just begin). If the most important thing is a non-material item, like marriage, then begin to think of ways that you might meet that special person. Again, friends and family can play an important role in introducing you to a potential mate. At the end of two months, review your list to make sure those are the things that are still the most important to you. If not, revise your list, and continue on for two more months. If you were able to obtain one of the items, or to achieve a goal in the first two months, then pick a close friend or family member and celebrate your victory. (This does not have to be expensive; sometimes an ice cream cone at the mall does wonders.) Continue on, reviewing your list and revising when necessary every two months. Be sure to reward yourself for victories, but also forgive yourself for setbacks.

Life is a journey, a marathon if you will, not a quick walking of the dog. Live it. Just remember to enjoy it along the way. Find the balance between having fun today, but also planning for tomorrow and before long, you may find that you have no fear.

What are the symptoms of anxiety attacks?

Back a bazillion years ago when we lived in caves and had to hunt and gather to survive we had an adrenaline system that would kick in and prepare our body for flight (run like hell) or fight (one of us is going to die and it wont be me!) And back in those days, we got to USE that adrenaline to beat off Mr. T Rex or Sabbertooth tiger who wanted to make a snack out of us. Well life evolves, time goes by, but we still have Mr. Caveman's adrenaline system. Now when something scares us (and usually its something in our own mind/what if thinking) we don't need Mr. T Rex to scare us, we set off our own fire alarms/adrenaline system with our thoughts and worries and this can happen in less than a second, from nothing more than a scary thought. And we get ALLLLL this adrenaline pouring in our system, but there is nothing to physically fight, and nothing to run like hell from (which would quickly use up this adrenaline So we experience what we normally wouldn't if we were actually fighting Mr. Big Tiger who wants to eat us, or trying to out pace a T Rex Blood goes to our muscles to prepare us to run, we may feel lightheaded because the blood is moving to more important places. WE get tunnel vision or blurry vision. Our heart race and thump and feel like they are going to jump out of our chest. We also get short of breath. By not using this energy the way mother nature intended it we may find ourselves also shaking. Your digestion sometimes wants to purge itself so feeling nauseous or loosing ones bowels is not uncommon. For each person its a little different but overall very similar. This is often followed by fatigue The kick is anxiety becomes a vicious circle because we focus on all these NATURAL bodily symptoms that we brought on ourselves and we scare ourselves all over again (I cant breath, I'm having a heart attack I'm going to throw up, I feel lightheaded or dizzy), causing another rush and flood of adrenaline to be released. The good news is, with practice, its all very treatable.

Does amitriptyline help OCD symptoms?

To my knowledge, this drug is prescribed for anti-anxiety control. Given that ocd/anxiety may fall into similar categories, it is advised that you talk to a physician/psychiatrist on the matter of ocd and what treatments are available and in what dosage. Try not to experiment with treatment like that with out the supervision of a doctor, you might suffer some serious side-effects in the long run.

Where does PTSD come from?

PTSD comes from being in traumatic situations, like in combat. it comes from being separated from your loved ones whilst being in combat, or as equally traumatic place and time. it is not somehing to be joked about and if not treated properly can lead to all kinds of downfalls for the person afflicted. it is not something that happens to just "weak willed people" it can and will take down the biggest and toughest..

my personal opinion of how it comes about is by sticking someone in that kind of place after being told your whole life that is against god to kill someone, having to kill or be killed... watching your buddy die in front of you, losing a family member while they were there in combat to a roadside bomb... wondering everynight if you are going to make it home again. lack of sleep and proper food while you are there, people trying to make life harder..

also soldiers are jacked up with all kinds of vaccines, who knows what the hell is in them or how they will react with each individual.. most vaccines contain mercury and hello that will effect your brain....

i don't know if there is one pinpointed answer for this one.. If you do know someone afflicted with PTSD, my only advice for you is to try to love them even more, as they really need it. they need your support and to know that you are still proud of them.

that would be a good first step to help them handle it.

It is caused from someone experiencing a traumatic event, like serving in a war zone. Also known as shell shock. It can also happen from something like a horrific car accident where there are friends or family killed.

Feeling run down?

anemia or lack of vitamins in the body. It could also be due to a lack of sleep.

Is there a link between OCD and Epilepsy?

My son was ridiculously hyperactive in his first four years, then petit mal (absence seizures) were exceptionally noticeable-even up to four minutes if left alone, and he could automatically do just about everything- scary concept if ur child is crossing the street alone on his way to school, or playing contact sport or being bullied because of seizures:( he'll keep walking, but not be aware of anything. he was diagnosed as positive with EEG tests etc, and went onto epilim for about four years. his concentration improved , but during the initial phases his medication was too high and he became violently hyperactive, reduced the meds and back to perfect.

after three years solid with no seizures we stopped epilim and it hasn't returned since. he has however suffered typical (and very frustrating)adhd symptoms- he plays drums when the hyperactivity gets too much and his legs never stop moving.hes never been diagnosed with add/adhd BUT i am certain that this explains EVERYTHING. in my mind there is a definite link between them.

his father has tourettes with adhd so it is highly possible...

What is the fear of crowded places?

Agoraphobia? im pretty sure.

One milder, but longer lasting and even more troublesome, difficult to eradicate and treat, version of this "phobia" can be described as "fear of overpopulation", which not necessarily refers to immediate physical menace or presence of crowds, but to the looming and permanent presence of such crowds competing for resources (air, water, natural environment), making them scarcer and more difficult to get such satisfiers, than they could be otherwise if no human overpopulation exists.

Why when you start to fall asleep you wake up in a panic?

They don't get worse at night for everyone. Panic attacks are triggered by different things for different people. Pehaps you need more family support at this time; especially your mom - you might be surprised how much she loves and supports you. Give her the opportunity.

For many reasons. Some reasons would be to comply with state and federal regulations, to improve productivity, to improve profit, to set a standard that an establishment wants to be recognized by, for the safety of individuals, to create a uniform and consistant outcome, to control loss, and simply because a business can seldom be run in a chaotic manner in which each individual does what they choose.

Are anxiety attacks deadly?

Contrary to how it might feel at the time, anxiety attacks by themselves are not fatal. They can, however, trigger cardiovascular episodes in people who are prone to them, and also acute asthma attacks.

The big danger is that the limited options faced by people who have developed severe anxiety issues will destroy their health in terms of lack of exercise, poor eating habits, and the other limitations that the disorder can impose. That is a major reason why treatment is so important.

Does Wellbutrin help with anxiety?

In my opinion, yes! The regular Wellbutrin didn't help much for depression or anxiety and gave me migraines. However, the Wellbutrin XL has worked wonders for me. I was taking 150 mg / day and am now taking 150 mg 2x / day. I can now deal w/ anxiety and stress. My husband was just prescribed Zoloft for anxiety. The Dr. says Zoloft works better for men than for women. I can attest to that because the Zoloft didn't help me much.

Well hunny, Everyone needs shots because you get Vaccinated for diseases that we werent able to vaccinate for Years ago such as Hep B and Hep A and Small Pox. So theres no gettting around getting shots. I know that they hurt and I hate them too. I actually am a Medic and I work at a hosptital and I give shots. The best thing to do it to tell them "Do not count, just do it" It makes it easier for you if they dont count. If you dont know when the shot is coming, you wont tense up and it will hurt less. How long does it take lorazepam to work?

I would refer you to the website benzo.org.uk for the work of Professor Heather Ashton and her manual "The Ashton Manual"; this publication can be read or downloaded for free from that website. She is a world-authority on the subject. I have read that some of the withdrawal symptoms can last up to 1-2 years, and in rare situations never completely resolve. There are many other websites with information on this subject. Unfortunately, the drug manufacturers and prescribing doctors have a pathetic lack of information on the harm this drug can cause and how to withdraw safely, and are woefully ignorant of the hell one can go through when withdrawing from this medication, even from very small doses. It is a very hard process to go through, but one that can be done safely with the right information. You will be much healthier in the long-run for going through this--however, it is not easy. Most important, do not quick cold turkey, but taper very slowly. It is imperative to get accurate information from those who have been through this process. Again, Professor Ashton's work is a good place to start. Sbird

How do you prevent panic attacks?

There is one key factor that makes the difference between those who fully eliminate panic attacks from their lives and those who do not. The key ingredient is not medication, lifestyle changes, or relaxation exercises. It is when the individual no longer fears the thought of having a panic attack..

This may seem like a simplified and obvious observation but give it careful consideration. The one thing that has you searching for a solution to anxiety and panic attacks this very moment is the fear of having another one.

I get panic attacks so much that I kept almost being sick, fainting, I just breakdown and cry. I would recommend a therapist. Or, purple is a calm colour. Just calm yourself down. Get some candles, perhaps some lavendar or a nice smelling thing, turn all the lights off and put on some relaxing music... Theres a variety of music you can try on YouTube. It completely calms you down, and eventually you'll understand that you can relax

What would make an otherwise normal woman start to sweat a lot under her arms?

Underarm odor in women, and men, is mainly caused by the bacteria that live and multiply in the sweat that tends to get trapped in underarm and genital regions. These bacteria often emit sulphur-containing gases as part of their respiration process. Another lesser cause of body odor can sometimes be certain foods that you eat, garlic is a common culprit, but these odors are not limited to pubic regions, they come from all over your body, but are usually stronger in pubic regions because of the combination of hair and sweat there. Then there is your own natural scent which you may or may not find appealing, which also is a bodywide odor, and will be stronger in your sweaty and hairy regions.
