Need to do major cleaning of fish tank what temperature do you bake gravel to kill all bactreia?

Why do you need to do such a major cleaning and kill the bacteria on the gravel? A good amount of beneficial, good bacteria live on the gravel. These bacteria help filter fish waste and food waste that would pollute your tank.

If you are basically looking to start your tank over due to fish loss from illness (which means you have to go through starting a new Nitrogen Cycle) you can bake natural gravel at 450 for an hour to sanitize it. If your gravel is painted/coated, it cannot be baked and should be thrown out.

The glass or acrylic tank and any non-porous decorations can be soaked in a 1:20 part bleach mixture overnight and then rinsed well until you can smell no hint of bleach. Then, let them sit outside in the sun on a towel for a few days to evaporate every last trace of bleach. Bleach is toxic to fish, so I must stress that if you choose to clean with bleach you can NOT bleach anything porous (so only plastic plants, no silk; only natural rocks, no driftwood) and you MUST let it sit in the sun to evaporate fully.

How long does it take to bake a dish at 350 degrees when it should be baked at 400 degrees for 18 minutes?

I'd be surprised to see any recipe state that a dish should be cooked for precisely 13 minutes - 15 minutes maybe - it's a very short cooking time, and for such a short cooking time and allowing for individual variations between ovens there can be no hard-and-fast rules.

Pastry is usually baked at a somewhat higher temperature (so that the flour absorbs the melted fat more quickly) and this sounds like it might be the blind-baking of an empty pie crust.

The answer to your question is: bake it for 13 minutes at 350 degrees and then see if it is done - if not, then give it a couple of minutes more and check again.

Can you use all purpose flour for baking and will it rise?

All purpose is comonly used in baking. However, it will not rise unless you add baking soda, baking powder or yeast. A common southern recipe that some cooks use for all purpose flour is dumplings called 'slick dumplings'. Some classic recipes do not use dumplings that 'rise'. It is a matter of preference. However usually one would want to use self rising flour that has baking powder/salt to rise for a ligher texture.

How many grams of flour are in one cup?

Some answers:

  • A US cup (240mL) of flour is about 125 grams. Do remember, though, that the weight of flour can vary due to humidity and the type of flour used, as well as whether the flour is settled or sifted. When scooped, the flour can slightly get compacted and you'll read up to 137 g per cup.
  • A US cup is 236.58 ml by volume, exactly.
  • While baking, using weight measurement is recommended: i.e 10 Oz or 280 g sifted or unsifted, or compacted, is still 280 g. You have less chances to be wrong by weight than by volume.
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour(unsifted) will be about 140 grams. 1 cup of all-purpose flour(sifted) will be about 115 grams.
  • 1 cup of flour in grams is approximately 128 grams. Some recipes call for cup measurements rather than grams or ounces.

As you can guess, a cup of flour can vary in weight depending on the density of the type of flour used. Even age, storage and moisture content will affect the weight. If your recipe calls for a weight of a particular flour rather than a volume, follow the recipe and weigh it out. Kitchen scales are an indispensable tool.
