Why does your wipers run when the key is on and it sits overnight and the battery goes dead?

Not knowing what vehicle you have, you may have a faulty switch or pulse board. Remove the fuse for the wipers when it is not raining until you can get to a garage for repair.

Can you use a 12 volt battery charger to heat water?

Yes it could be possible. There are two parameters that have to be met. You will need a 12 volt DC submersible heater. The wattage of the heater must be low enough so as not to draw more amperage than the battery charger's output can supply. The formula to use would be I = W/E. Amps = Watts/12.

An example would be, for a 120 watt heater, A = 120/12 = 10 amps. If your battery charger has a higher output than 10 amp then you can make the battery charger heat water.

Can a loose battery cable cause a battery to go dead?

Yes. If it is loose on the side that comes from that alternator, then the alt. is not getting the opportunity to charge the battery. So basically you're running your car on pure battery and it will go dead accordingly

Do lithium batteries leak?

No lithium batteries don't leak. There the bestS ones to get.

What might be the cause of overnight battery drain in a 1993 GM diesel pickup?

Assuming it's actually a drain and not a bad battery, check for:

-aftermarket electrical equipment such as plow, cell phone, alarm

-door or glovebox not closed

-bad alternator diode (may be intermittent)

-corrosion at starter B terminal

-something else

Can 2700mAH NiMH battery be used instead of 2300mAH NiMH battery?

If it will physically fit in the space, then yes, the 2700 mAh battery should work fine.

How much is bail set for a battery charge in lake county Indiana?

Bail is a variable amount set by the judge in response to several factors and inputs - your criminal record (if any) - the seriousness of the crime - the recommendation of the prosecutor - the noteriety of the case - etc).

What indicates that the charge on the CMOS battery could be getting low?

As far as I know, there is really no advanced warning, until the battery starts to fail. For example, on my computer, after using it for several years, the computer started to be unable to maintain the current time. I eventually figured out that this was a result of a weak CMOS battery.

What colour is terminal on a car battery charger?

I'm not sure what you're asking but maybe its this: Red is Positive (+) and Black is Negative (-).

What is ack-ack?

This is slang for flak, sometimes called AA fire, othertimes known as tirple A (or AAA anti-aircraft-artillery). AA stands for Anti-Air fire. The German name for AA is Fliegerabwehr. The name flak came from the German name Flugabwehrkanone. Which loosely translates as air defense cannon. Others say the name came from the sound of flak making an ack ack sound. 'Ack, ack' does not come from German, but from the alphabet used by British signallers in the First World War. The alphabet involved saying 'ack' for 'a', 'beer' for 'b' and so on...hence AA when transmitted by signallers would be transmitted as 'Ack, ack'.

Both. German 88 also called in basic German Acht-acht, eight-eight and also the British use ack-ack. Although the latter is more likely what is being referred during WWI and WWII, seeing that both refer to AA, with the former being more specific, I'd say, this information just gives more insight of use.

What are the symptoms of defective coil?

A defective coil can cause an engine to run erratically or not start at all. Coils can weaken, causing insufficient spark. A coil can also breakdown once it heats up then work when it gets cooled down.

How do you discounect the Vigor's alarm system you feel it is draining the battery?

I have been having a problem with my factory alarm also. I have read about 20 posts on various sites suggesting hte same fix. I called my mechanic and car stereo store to confirm this would work and they all agreed it would. Open the hood and bend the little switch that detects if the hood is closed. This will make the factory alarm think that the car is not closed up and it will not alarm itself. Hope this helps rusty0628@yahoo.com

Is a 12 volt adapter the same as a 12 volt charger?

Yes it is in principle, but two things have to be checked.

First if it is nominally 12 volts, it might not produce exactly 12 volts, and this needs to be tested so damage is not done to whatever is connected.

Secondly, the adaptor/charger has to be able to supply enough current (amps) for whatever you are connecting to it.

How many 12 volt batteries to run a 1.5 horsepower water pump for 1 hour?

1 hp is 746 watts but you have to allow extra for losses. So for 1.5 hp you need about 1400 watts to be supplied, which at 12 v is a current of 117 amps.

A car battery is about 40 amp-hours therefore 3 batteries would be needed, connected in parallel, 4 to be sure. Also needed is an inverter to convert 12 v to the voltage of the pump motor, and AC 50/60 Hz if that is what it needs.
