How do check the transmission fluid on a 2005 Cadillac STS?
Unfortunately, you don't. As odd as it sounds (I'm a car guy and a staunch GM supporter but they really goofed on this one) it is a sealed system. Yep, you guessed right, gotta go to the dealer and pay lots of cash for the service. Owners manual says service at 50K under heavy conditions (hot, city driving or towing), 100K otherwise. I quizzed the local dealer (Michael Stead in Walnut Creek, CA) and they recommend doing it at 45K (?!) but definitely at 60K. I just hit 60K and I'm holding out.
No, you cannot sue your insurance company for injuries....actuallly, I take that back. You can sue anybody for anything...but in this case, you would not win. Your policy should have a coverage called Uninsured Motorist Coverage. Typically, this would cover the injured parties in your vehicle if the accident was caused by an uninsured driver. This would cover your injuries in such an incident. Unfortunately, this coverage is not discussed by most insurance agents and is included as an afterthought. Be sure to check your policy and see if this is there. You should never have a lower Uninsured Motorist coverage than your Bodily Injury amount.

On the driver's side, on the top back of the engine you can see the EGR, below the EGR there are 2 green hoses, below the green hoses... you look carefully, you will see a wire going to the coolant sensor... the coolant sensor is buried between the engine & the transmission. It's difficult to replace, but not impossible.

You will have to remove the intake, and replace the gaskets (they are reuse able but you should have new ones on hand in case they are damaged.
The spark plugs installed in the engine are designed to last for 100k miles, unless you have a misfire, then there really no reason to replace them.

Cadillac sts has air shocks wich are controlled only by a air pump, or a hidden air valve, which u can then pump air into it like you are pumping up a tire at a gas station. For each air shock it is around $140- and up. If you are thinking about replacing them due to not leveling out your suspension at all, check to make sure the air pump is on/working if not that would be the first step in getting them to work properly. If so your air shocks are probably worn out to were you got to replace them.
