Why is your 2005 Ford Escape check engine light blinking?
A "Blinking" light typically means that something SEROUS has been detected. Use a code scanner to detect the problem.
What does it mean when an engine light goes on?
If you are referring to the Check Engine light it means there is a problem with the emissions system on the vehicle. Have it looked at by a professional. If you are referring the the Maintenance Required light it means you need to change the oil/filter.
How can you fix if the check engine light always on?
Have vehicle scanned to determine the problem. Some auto parts stores will do this for free
What does code p0457 evap control system leak detected mean?

Why does the check gauges light come on only sometimes on a 2002 trail blazer?
It could be a problem that is showing up intermittently. Most of those types of problems are stored in the computer, so you could probably borrow, rent or buy an OBD2 code scanner that would tell you what's going on. Check with your local auto parts retailer. They can often give you a little assistance on those types of issues, especially if you could go in during an off-peak time. Good luck.
The number one reason the "Check Guages" light comes on is for you to check the guages. It is almost always because your temperature guage is reading really high and when you start off,the temp goes down and the light goes out. Another is the oil pressure guage. If it goes low while ideling such as at a stop light, the "Check Guages" light comes on and goes out when you start off again and the oil pressure goes up.
What is gm trouble code p0440?

How do you reset a check engine light on a 1999 ford F-150?
Try removing negative battery cable for 10 minutes. If that does not work you will need an OBD2 scan tool to reset the light.
What does the dashboard symbol that looks like a gear with a plus in the middle mean when lit up?
If I am not mistaken that means you need to shift up a gear
I just had this problem with my 05 Highlander. $200 later (towing, labor and a $2 part) Turns out it was just a blown fuse. The ETCS 10amp to be exact. I'm not saying this is the reason you're having this problem... I'm just saying check it yourself before you spend the money to have someone else check it for you. Good Luck!
The rocket is now too heavy to reach its destination
What could cause a cylinder 4 misfire code on a 1999 dodge ram 1500?

What if you cant find the problem that keeps your service engine light on?
A service engine light is not the same as a check engine light. In most instances the service engine light means you are in need of an oil/filter change. Refer to your owners manual to see what is needed at the mileage you are at on your vehicle. If you are talking about the check engine light then take the vehicle to a professional for repair.
If the dash board says to check the engine what do you look for?
The Check Engine light indicates a problem with the emissions system. Even though the engine may seem to be running OK, you need to have this looked at by a tech. Damage to the converter or other parts may occur if it is not repaired.
A short cut to check the codes on a 1993 Saturn; locate the code reader connector below the steering column under the dash. Insert a wire or paper clip between the upper right two pins of the connector. (pins are side by side) Cycle the key to the "on" position (engine off). The "service engine soon"light will flash the normal ignition code first -three times example blink - one (pause)....one...two (or code 12) repeat blink -one (pause)....one...two (code 12) repeat for a third time. Then the light will flash the next code> Blink - one...two...three (pause) one...two.. (or Code 32) ????EGR circuit failure???? repeat code 32 two more times. finally after all the codes are flashed the normal ignition code will appear again at the end of the cycle.
Remember each code will be repeated three times.
Some shop manuals have the codes listed in the books
Also I think this trick only works up to 1994 (update: actually to 1995. They went to OBDII in 1996).
Maybe try going to Autozone, they will check your codes for you for free.
hope this helps.
AnswerAutozone can't help you... they will only test I believe 1996 and up.There is litterally about 100 faults that could behave this way.
Most Faults will not "Set the Light" untill a certain amount of time passes so that a bump or such doesnt set the light every 2 seconds.
Have the car scanned, its the only way to know why the light comes on. Many parts store will do this for free.
What would cause the engine to rock while idling and when it gets to between 55 and 65 MPH?
motor mount? I suspect you have a broken motor mount.
An ignition miss would occure at those times. Especially at 50-55 mph, I would suspect secondary ignition components... Plugs, wires, etc...
A replacement cat converter is very expensive and it is unlikely the cat needs replaced. Is the engine warning symbol lighting up? If it is the chances are that the sensor on the cat is either dirty or faulty.
The best way to determine if your cat is faulty is to have the exhaust emissions checked this will show if the cat is working properly or not.
A replacement cat can be fitted by any exhaust center, but expect to pay big bucks if you have to replace.
Hello,If you are running your Capri on plain water only chences are immense that your water pump impeller has completely corroded away or simply desintegrated due to years of friction in water and then merely a rough edged razor sharp flat dish remains rather then an i^peller, which obviously does not circulate the water as required.Recommend you check water circulation by removing top hose at thermmostat and remove thermostat on cold engine an then start up and observe if water is actually being pressed out/forced trough the themostat housing. Dont let it run long, just to see if circulation is really there, otherwise add water continuously without pressurising the cooling circuit (garden hose not pressed into radiator cap but at a distance and merely let water run without pressure) at radiator cap to obseve a few minutes more

Answerthey all do that. lol. i have a 1991 it does the same thing if you let the car ideal. you will see the fan wont even kick on until its up that high. i thought something was wrong with my car also. then i saw photos of others on eBay of the dash with the car running and there was just as high as mine.you can pull the fuss out off one of the relay under the hood next to the left front of the fire wall it's in the corner cover in rubber pull the rubber off pull the fuss out and the fan will stay on but when you stop the car put the fuss back in or you might have a brokin vacum hose that will make car run hot or a headgasket might be going out that if you radater is goodHow do you clear a P0700 code?
P0700 : EATX code present. It just means that the transmission computer has a code in it
You have to repair and clear the code in the transmission computer
The check engine light turns on to inform the driver that the computer has detected a 'fault' and that the driver should address the problem. If the light is on constantly, it's considered a "minor" fault but something that needs attention as soon as you get a chance. If the light is flashing it means that something serious has been detected and you need to deal with it NOW!
Unfortunately there is a whole class of "faults" that clear themselves and don't show up until next time the problem is detected... and it may not be until you go 65mph.
You may need to connect the diagnostic code reader to the vehicle then go for a drive. You should be able to have someone with you so that one of you can drive while the other is operating the code scanner.
That kind of problem seems like a pain but usually they aren't too bad once you have the code scanner helping you.
It can also be a problem with OTHER systems, such as the anti-lock brakes. If that's the case you'll need to take the vehicle to a dealer or a brake specialist.
