How do you fix the security system on a 1992 Chevy Camaro when your car does not start?

"The security resistor on your key may be dirty or dead. Try a new key from GM. It will come programmed right from the dealer.

Another possibility is that your ignition key also has a resistor in it. That can only mean that there is a passkey system such as the one used in a 1994 Buick Regal Custom. When the passkey system fails, it costs about $350 to replace. However, for a Camaro, it's worth the money. Take it to a garage to test the system."

I own a 1991 Camaro that has the passkey, and I trip it accidentally a lot. When this is done, go under the dash and there is a brown/black/purple wire with a black connector. Unplug this, then plug it back in and the system is reset and the car should start.

Will a v8 Camaro differential fit on a v6 Camaro?

youll most likely need to get new motor mounts maybe drilling and pherhaps a diffrent transmission on it but yes with some time it can be done

Sorry to whomever posted the above but it seems like you didnt understand the question so I am editing. Yes a v8 differential of the same generation will fit a v6 camaro. The upside to this being you will get the bigger gears aswell as limited slip. In fact if you are going to do that you may aswell find a whole rearend from a v8/z28 so you get the disc brakes aswell

Why would you have to top up your power steering fluid all the time if there are no leaks?

Are there any puddles under your car after you park it ? if yes then you do have a leak , most of the time it a presure line at the steering gearbox

Check again carefully...Ask someone to turn the wheel to full lock on one side whilst you look under the bonnet (hood?) to see if there is any fluid squirting out from a pressure hose. oes the vehicle have a steering rack? If so, the seals could be leaking into the rubber boots (gaiters?) and filling them up but not leaking out onto the ground just yet.

Would a slipped timing chain cause engine to sputter?

yes, your timing chain keeps the valves in you engine, opening at the correct times in order for your engine to properly work. when the timing chain is NOT opening the valves at the Right time, the engine will "sputter" or have a rough idle. This is a telltale sin of a wearing chain. I would recommend you replace it as soon as possible so as to avoid your chain slipping, or breaking in your engine. This is NOT a job you can do yourself, unless you are DEAD SET on doing it. It may take you days to finish this, because you must either "tip" or pull out the engine in order to access all of the main components. This is a COSTLY process, as most shops charge around $1000 to change you timing chain. goodluck

Will an ac compressor for a 1994 Camaro work on a 1995 Camaro?

Ok. First things, first. Yes, I believe it will. to get a positive, call your local auto wrecking yard. They havce interchange books, that will say for sure, if it is to be. Now, I have to warn you, this is not an item that one without experience, and proper tools, should mess with. That is a sealed system, under pressure, full of chemicals that are designed to quick, "freeze" air, upon contact, that will let go, at random, unless properly purged, with a machine, designed for that purpose. This is one proceedure, I do not recomend, to the do it yourself guy. And, certain makers of cars are known for certain tenacies. Fords, in the 70's, and 80's, are known for noisy power steering pumps, for example. Well, Gm is known for faulty air conditioning compressors. And with no way to test it off of the car, you don't know if the one your installing, even works. I would bite the bullet on this one, have it done, and get the gaurantee associated with such a move........Chuck.

How do you change the power steering pump on a 1996 Camaro RS?

If it is a 3800, you need to remove belt, use a pulley puller to remove pulley, then there is a screw on fitting for the pressure side, and a hose clamp and push on hose for the return, then just two 13mm nuts and it is in your hand, it is easier to do it from beneath the car.

AnswerIf its a 3.4L v6, remove intake, belt, and pump bolts, make sure you get the one behind it whcih alot of ppl miss. its a little bold hidden behind the little black fluid container behind the pully/houseing. To get to some of the ther tricky bolts of the housing its easier to unbolt your coil pack to get to them. good luck unless you've already done it.

Changing fuel pump in a 92 camaro 3 1 v6 Whats easier Dropping the tank or cutting a hole above the gas tank How do you know where to cut is there anywhere to get a diagram for cutting the hole?

well it would be easier to just pull the back seats down and cut a whole through there to get to it but u always have the risk of hittin the gas tank or even the pump itself so to be safe it would be better to just drop the whole tank which is a pain but worth it in the end

AnswerCutting a hole would be the last thing you would want to do. The only way to change the fuel pump is to drop the gas tank. Cutting a hole in the your trunk mean you have to weld the hole up. And doing that wouldn't be the smartest thing to do because you would be welding right above the gas tank. Plus if you cut a hole and don't weld it up it will cause rusting and then soon you will be replacing the whole trunk pan. That isn't cheap!

Actually, I have this car and its easier if you just cut the whole your self. And you don't have to weld it back on either. Just put the piece you cut off back on and put the carpet back over it. Its as simple as that. Dropping the tank is a pain and pointless when you have access to the pump in the back seat. Trust me, its WAY easier and way less time consuming. And you should cut above the little connector behind your seat. The pump is DIRECTLY above that little connector/ wire. All you need to cut is 6 inches up, and 6 inches across.

Will a 99 camaro front clip fit with a 96 camaro body?

When changing your oil if you add 5 quarts of oil will it hurt the car?

Not if 5 quarts is the correct amount. When you overfill the crankcase by a half quart or more, then you risk "foaming" the oil. If the oil level gets high enough, the spinning crankshaft can whip the oil up into a froth, like the stuff that sits on top of your cappuccino. And the problem with that is that the oil pump can't pump froth. Therefore it is just as bad as having no oil. Why not just put in the correct amount and not take the risk. An owner's manual will tell you the correct amount without any the guesswork. If you don't have a manual, add 4 quarts when changing the oil/filter. Start the engine and let it run for 20 seconds. Shut it off and wait 3 minutes, check the level and top it off. If it's overfull with 4 quarts (unlikely), drain it all and start over with 3. You will then know how much it takes.

How do you change the o2 sensors on a 94 3.4L camaro?

Oxygen Sensor

Some vehicles have (2) and some have (4) O2 sensors.
When you start looking at the O2 sensors, they are normally numbered something like "Bank 1 Sensor 1" Bank 1 is on the passenger side; Bank 2 is on the driver's side. Sensor 1 is the upstream sensor (near the frame, between the block and the cat) and Sensor 2 is near the Y-pipe (downstream of the cat).

Normally it is the upstream sensors (sensor 1) that go first. They see the harshest conditions.

You will need;

Oxygen Sensor Socket

Anti-Seized

Penetrating Oil

I have even used a small plumbers propane tank and heat it up and it help get them free.

Sometimes it will take 15 minutes or take a few hours it depends on your luck...
