Can a plugged Catalytic converter cause excessive backfire and loss of power?
Yes, along with low fuel pressure, a misfire, improper timing,...... Also a bad coil will have the same effect. Actually this has happened to me 2 times, once in my 1991 Chevy Blazer and again in a 2000 Chevy Tahoe. Both times back firing and loss of power it was the coil. in cooler weather it takes longer to go completely out. In southern states in the summer goes faster. The first time it happened to me was in Alaska and took me a long time to figure out what was going on, changed the catalytic converter, injectors, O2 sensors, plugs and wires. Finally took a multimeter to everything under the hood and it was the Coil. Good luck
Why does my Chevrolet Camero Z28 overheat?
There are numerous reasons for overheating. The thermostat could be stuck closed. You could have a leak. You could have a blown head gasket which could be determind by a block test. The list goes on. Take it to a shop and have it pressure tested. Guessing will only cost you money on not finding the problem. I had the same problem and after trips to a couple of respected auto repair shops with no fix. I decided to sit the car for awhile. When I was ready to tackle the problem again, a few months later, my battery needed a charge. After removing and charging the battery I decided to clean the battery tray prior to replacing the battery. While cleaning the tray, I noticed the reservor hose, which runs from the radiator to the reservor and snaps into the battery tray (two piece hose aluminum and rubber with an aluminum clamp) was bloated. Upon further inspection I found that it was also leaking. I removed the hose and separated the rubber from the aluminum by breaking the permanent clamp. I then repaired the hose,by replacing the rubber portio with a 1 ft piece of 3/8" rubber reinforced fuel hose and two small SS hose clamps. This $12 repair solved both my overheating problem and my low coolant level sensor problem.
Where can you get information about maintaining a 1996 Chevy Camaro?
Hey I have a 3800 96 and I have found the "Haynes Repair Manual" very effective and easy to follow, if you know a bit about cars. Some of the info is difficult to visualize unless you are doing the repair at the same time. I'm from Canada and I got mine at Canadian Tire. I'm pretty sure that they are really easy to get. I have found that even some mechanics that are not too familiar with your car can find it really useful to use this manual. Some mechanics don't like the idea that the PCM controls everything in the car and they cannot adjust things like the timing. The code for the manual is 24017. Sorry cannot help more than that. I myself have a problem with some pinging and the mechanics cannot figure out what it is. I have taken it to my mechanic and the dealership. The manual has some ideas on what it could be, such as the ignition system or carbon build up in the combustion chamber... we'll see... If you know anything about that pls let me know. If you cannot find the book I could look up stuff and let u know. My email is juan@gomez.cc Good luck! Juan Gomez Vancouver, Canada

Will a v8 Camaro differential fit on a v6 Camaro?
youll most likely need to get new motor mounts maybe drilling and pherhaps a diffrent transmission on it but yes with some time it can be done
Sorry to whomever posted the above but it seems like you didnt understand the question so I am editing. Yes a v8 differential of the same generation will fit a v6 camaro. The upside to this being you will get the bigger gears aswell as limited slip. In fact if you are going to do that you may aswell find a whole rearend from a v8/z28 so you get the disc brakes aswell

What kind of transmission fluid to use in the 350 turbo automatic transmission for a 72 Camaro?
How do you check the transmission fluid in 1995 Toyota Previa?
By the engine oil fill cap/engine oil dipstick. It's red... on the right hand side.
Not sure how old this thread is but yes that would be correct, I believe it has the same setup on all models and so you would have to feel under the driver's seat for a yellow lever to flip the seat back to check both oil and trans fluid.
How do you install a water pump in a Chevy 1995 z28 camaro?
remove the radiator fans, remove the 5 hoses that go to the water pump and the coolant temperature sensor plug. You must also remove 6 bolts and a canister on the driver's side head so you can remove a large bracket that holds the canister and an ear on the water pump.
Pull it out from underneath.
clean the mating surfaces and purchase new gaskets. spread a liberal amount or silicone sealer on both sides of the gasket and put the pump back in from underneath

Will an ac compressor for a 1994 Camaro work on a 1995 Camaro?
Ok. First things, first. Yes, I believe it will. to get a positive, call your local auto wrecking yard. They havce interchange books, that will say for sure, if it is to be. Now, I have to warn you, this is not an item that one without experience, and proper tools, should mess with. That is a sealed system, under pressure, full of chemicals that are designed to quick, "freeze" air, upon contact, that will let go, at random, unless properly purged, with a machine, designed for that purpose. This is one proceedure, I do not recomend, to the do it yourself guy. And, certain makers of cars are known for certain tenacies. Fords, in the 70's, and 80's, are known for noisy power steering pumps, for example. Well, Gm is known for faulty air conditioning compressors. And with no way to test it off of the car, you don't know if the one your installing, even works. I would bite the bullet on this one, have it done, and get the gaurantee associated with such a move........Chuck.
