In 1995, Chevy made a version called a ZR1. It was a special made, race version, sold to the public. The body was wider, it had 10, or 12 inch wide tires in the rear, and a little bit more narrow, on the front. It also had a special motor in it. I also think they had a 180, or 200mph speedometers. They were all stickshift trannys I believe, as well. They were way faster than the stock version of the same year, and, were used in racing unmodified from the version the public got. You first have to take the passenger side (bottom) dashboard out. You then remove (approx) 3 bolts from the inside and (approx) 2 nuts from the motor side. The heater core is inside the heater box. When the box comes off, you then remove the heater core from the box - after removing about 6-8 screws. It is more difficult than it sounds.

you can actually take the shift knob off. i would say it is easier to take the shifter arm off first by moving the boot down and there is a nut holding it there just loosen it by turning clockwise i think, if not just turn it the other way. with the shifter arm off you would have to actually cut the knob down to the shifter arm itself. there is not really an easier way sad to say. I am about to do this sometime soon with my shift knob.

remove the motor, some times its a buildup of leaves or debris stuck in the (squirrel cage fan blade) if no debris motor is old and bearing is worn you can run the blower while it it out of heater box but hold on with 2 hands and have someone turn switch you dont want to break plastic fan blade cage by bumping into dashboard at 600 rpm
