What was the travel route from Boston to California in 1800?

Depending on what part of Calafornia you are going

For SanFranisco aria is I-90 west all the way to I-80 west all the way to San Fransico

for southern Calafornia use I-95 S through RI, Ct, NY city over the George Washington Bridge then NJ turnpike south to I-78 west to Pensuvena Turnpike west to I-70 west all the way to Utah to I-15 south through Grand Caynan, Las Vegas to Calafornia.

Tip

This would take you about 3 days stoping only for food, gas, restroom.

I recomending you should leave at 4:00 am on Sunday to avoid traffic through NY city and the Midwest then you would be in Kansas next moring and driving through the rocky moutans during the afternoon and you be in the hot Arazona, Navada at night when its cool. and finaly arrived in sunny calafornia next moring.

Did Mao Zedong good?

This is a highly subjective question.

Many Chinese harbor a mix of both admiration and disdain for Mao Zedong, believing that he did the country a great deal of good by ending the corrupt rule of the Kuomintang, reforming the feudal system of land ownership, and ending the last vestiges of imperialist control over Mainland China. In this, he has become more of a figure of Chinese nationalism than one of international Socialist revolution. However, the catastrophes of the Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution can be laid at his feet.

As one ambivalent man once told me, "Mao was clearly a great man, as only a great man can make the sort of mistakes that he did!"

My personal judgment is that China today is, in some respects, slightly better off because of Mao and the CCP than it would be today if the KMT had won the civil war, and slightly worse off in others.

What year did Chiang Kai-shek retreat to Taiwan?

The aircraft May-ling evacuated them to Taiwan on the same day.

Why were scholars and teachers so highly respected in ancient China?

Without Googling ancient Chinese history, I can tell you (I am an educator) that teachers in many cultures were respected in ancient times because they were the keepers of the flame of knowledge and enlightenment. Still are in most cases. Respect is taught by parents. By anyone who has a healthy self-image and understands that smarter does not mean better. But it does mean smarter and as such, is worth our respect, since smarts and innovation move society forward.
