It is possible that you broke the motors when you forced the covers open. Try turning the headlights on and off and listen to see if you can hear anything from the motors. If you do, check to make sure that the connecting rod between the covers isn't broken.

The thermostate is associated with the wate pump it is silver with two bolts very easy to replace The current answer is correct however, it's not located near the water pump. Follow the top radiator hose to the housing which sits on top of the motor. Remove the hose clamp and hose from the housing. There will be some coolant spillage from both the hose and the housing. Remove the two bolts and the housing and inside sits the thermostat. You will need a new gasket when replacing. Clean both surfaces, the housing and the engine and reverse the procedure. It is pretty easy to change.

Where is and how do you replace the convertible top motor for a 1992 LeBaron?

I rebuild these top motors as a side job/hobby. I wrote this basic instruction sheet for a customer who asked a year or two ago. It should get you going in the right direction. I can be contacted at jimz466@AOL.com or via www.topmotorrepair.com if you have other questions.

Here's the basic procedure I use when I swap one of these motors out.

1. It's easiest to do while the top is in the raised position. If the top is currently down, it can be raised manually by using one person on each side and lifting it slowly. The fluid from the top of the cylinders will slowly bypass the pump internals.

2. The pumps can normally be accessed by removing the back seat or by going through the trunk. If going through the trunk, the trunk trim, which hides the back seat, will need to be removed. This is normally held in place by several of those little plastic trim screw devices. After removing this, the pump assembly will be in plain sight, located in the center, behind the rear seat.

3. The red and yellow wires go into a rubber plug, which is connected to the cars wiring harness. Disconnect this plug.

4. On Mustangs, the black ground wire is normally attached to the car chassis using a machine screw directly to the left of the pump assembly. I've seen this screw be a Phillips head screw and I've seen it sometimes be a hex head screw which can be removed using a 5/16 or 8mm wrench. Remove this screw. On LeBarons, this ground wire is normally connected to the chassis behind the pump out of sight. It can be removed using a 5/16 or 8mm wrench or socket, but will need to be done by feel. It�s also easier to do after performing step 5. An alternate method would be to remove the bolt at the other end of the wire where it attaches to the pump motor. This may be the easiest way on LeBarons.

5. The pump is held in place using four arrow head shaped rubber mounts. These mounts will pop loose merely by pulling or prying the pump assembly upward. When accessing the pump via the trunk, the pump is much easier to work on after the mounts are loose, as this allows you to move the pump around for access to the hose fittings.

6. Place some rags or paper towels under the pump where you'll be disconnecting the hose fittings. These fittings can be loosened using a 1/2 inch or 13mm wrench. One end of the pump assembly will have a triangular shaped bolt head in the center with a rubber plug above it. This is the reservoir. Keep this end even with or preferably lower than the hose fittings. This will minimize/prevent any fluid from the reservoir from leaking out the holes left after removing the fittings. You will have some minor drips come from the fittings when they are removed. This is not a problem and is completely normal. After removing the hose fittings, you should be able to take the pump assembly out of the trunk. you can set it down and as long as it's level, there shouldn't be any significant leakage. The fluid in your assembly may be clear. This is Type A transamission fluid and is almost impossible to obtain. I've spoken with several dealers and they all use Mercon/Dexron ATF for all their convertible top jobs.

7. Installation of the new pump can now take place. Any air bubbles in the lines caused by the dripping of fluid will be immediately filled after installing the pump merely by cycling the top a couple times. No special procedure is required.

Dexron 2 has been replaced by Dexron 3. If your Lebaron requires Dexron 2 then you can use Dexron 3. Never ever use a different type fluid than the manufacture requires, except is a case where the fluid has been discontinued and upgraded.

How do you let the top down on 1987 convertible Corvette?

To put the top down on your '87; first reach between the seats, just under the edge of the hatch that will eventually cover the top. You'll find a lever that swings toward the driver side door. On mine, I have to click it twice to release both sides of the top. Then above each of the visors, there is a lever you must pull all the way over. This releases the pins on the front of the top. Now, on the end of each door, you'll see a small switch with an arrow on it. Click the switch and this releases the hatch. Now, standing outside, lift the back of the top so you can open the hatch. The hatch will remain in the up position. Then put the rear of the top back into the original position. Lift the front, toward the rear of the car, and your top will fold into place. Gently close the cover and you are topless!

How do you replace rear speakers in 92 Chrysler lebaron ls convertible?

To remove The speakers you need a very simple Philips head screwdriver, that's it.

First, put the convertible top about halfway down, because this allows easy access to the speaker assembly.

Once the top is halfway down, look near the 1/4 windows towards the back of the car, their will be a vinyl covering that covers the speakers, this snaps off easily.

Now, the speaker assembly should be revealed. carefully unscrew the speakers from the panel, or for a custom installation, unscrew the 4 or 5 screws located around the speakers central point that are in various locations, once this is done, disconnect the speaker's wire harness, the harness is located under the panel that supports connection for you tonnue cover (also know as the convertible boot or "top cover").

You can now pull the speaker out. If you have decided to remove the panel, as i have done, this is how to remove it properly.

The panel should be pulled from the back, and then up, because the speaker panek built to "lock" into the fake leather (vinyl) panel located above the small armrest for backseat passengers.

You can either attach the the factory wire harness to the speaker wires by soldering the positive and negative wires, or use clips to connect them, I found it was easier to use the factory harness.

Now, fabricate the speakers to you liking. If you want them to be hidden, munt the speakers using factory holes, and then connect the wire harness. You now have sound.

*** for custom rear fabrication of the speakers, you can remove the cloth material, and cut the perferated speaker holes out, then sand and paint the panel. this requires time and a dremel, but it really adds a custom look to your beloved little convertible.

In summation, this will add a touch of customization to your car. I fabricated the speakers so they are scene and it really added a lot to my interior. I love my Chrysler Lebaron Convertible, and I hope you do to.

Check the top relay to make sure that power is being fed to the top motor. If the relay is ok then you will need to check the top motor as it could be bad.

If you hear the motor running when you push the button, first try filling the motor with fluid. The motor sits behind the back seat on the right side. I got to it by unsnapping the snaps of the well the top goes into when it is down. On the end of the motor/pump near the top is a rubber plug. Take the plug out and using a spouted plastic bottle squirt fluid into the hole until it runs out. Place a few rags under the area in which you are doing this to catch spillage. Replace plug and try the top. If it works, run it up and down a few time to work the air out of the system.

If that didn't work you should be able to remove and replace the motor from same location..........
