What do you do if the clutch cable will not adjust on a harley?

It depends on the year and type of Harley, but on a late model Big Twin if the clutch cable can't be adjusted it can mean one of several things, the worst being a fried throwout bearing.

If there's no indication that the throwout bearing is bad, it may mean the ball & ramp clutch actuating mechanism (in the tranny end cover) is temporarily stuck in the "disengage" position. Usually just moving the cable end in and out will put it back into its default position.

It's also possible the clutch itself (not the cable) was incorrectly adjusted, in which case it's simplest to:

A) Fully shorten the cable sheath (at its adjuster)

B) Loosen the locknut at the center of the clutch

C) Screw the adjuster all the way in until it stops then back it out 1/2 turn

D) Retighten the locknut

E) Readjust the cable

What is the advantage of diaphragm clutch over spring clutch?

diaphragam clutch is small in size as compare to spring clutch

and it transmits more torque as diaphragm exerts more force as copare to springs......

therefore it is advantageous to use diaphragm clutch intead of spring clutch...

more compact means of storing energy. thus compact design results in smaller clutch housing.........

less affected by centrifugal force..can withstand higher rotational speeds...

diaphragm acts as both clamping spring and release levers..therefore many extra parts like struts, eye bolts, levers etc can be eliminated....

Why does your 1993 Maxima clutch feel soft and does not engage?

it might not have any hydrolic fluid in the clutch master cylinder to engage the cluth or your clutch might me shot and just won't engage at all meaning you need a new one (was there a smell in the car right before you couldn't use clutch? that might of been the clutch burning up). don't quote me on all that I'm just telling you what you can check.
