Are all people equal?

That is a very relative thing, and a matter of personal interpretation. I think it is important to elaborate on "essence", and what it includes. It is proven that our minds function differently, that there is, in that sense, a difference between genders, races and roots. However, one can claim that many people have the same moral and ethical values, also most people do certain things simply to survive (eat, drink, reproduce).

The notion that people are different in the sense it is being used today is in many ways a result of differing cultures, as well as living in a society where individuality is to a certain extent encouraged.

In my opinion there is no things as two people being in essence equal, or identical. And, unfortunately, no one can tell you. Reading a bit of epistemology, however, and maybe Plato, might help.

What are the differences between the constitution and the articles of confederation?

The Articles of Confederation created a weak central government. The Constitution created a strong central government. The Articles did not create an executive branch. Congress was a unicameral legislature. There was no federal court system under the Articles. Congress could not enforce the laws nor levy and collect taxes without the approval of the states, under the Articles. A major weakness under the Articles was its lack of power to regulate trade between the states and with foreign nations.

What are the qualifications for becoming an economist?

I believe it depends on what level of an economist you want to be and in what capacity.

The title "economist" is not by any means the only job you can get straight out of college with a bachelors in economics. Its a very powerful degree and many of the things you would be learning are equally applied in jobs that do not have the label "economist", such as financial analyst.

So the question must first be what kind of job are you pursuing?

Well in the government their are many entry level positions with the title "economist" that only require a bachelors in economics. Some of these jobs are with the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, or the Bureau of Economic Analysis. However their are plentiful jobs within the Department of Labor or Department of Commerce and the Department of Agriculture.

So, for many entry level economist positions in the government a bachelors in economics, with at least 21 hours in economics, and 3 or more hours in statistics, calculus and accounting.

This however is for the title "Economist I". Their are most times level I, II, III. Level 2 often times signifies a masters degree in economics or a related field and level 3 a Ph.d. However, many positions will substitute experience for graduate education.

Now if however you want to work as an economist in the corporate arena you could most likely obtain a job performing economic analysis, but as I said before often times the job label will not be economist, it may be something like market analyst.

So even with just a bachelors you can find a really good job.

However, if you want to work as a professor in a university you will have to have at least a masters degree to lecture and if you want tenure you most certainly will need a Ph.D. Additionally, if you want to work for a economic consulting firm they also often require graduate degrees in economics.

The thing to remember is that some graduate degree may not buy you what you are looking for. As a student of economics you should evaluate your opportunity costs of taking additional years of school and its cost and forced sacrifice of wages that are forgone.

So the qualifications in my opinion are:

1. Bachelors degree in economics

2. Strong understanding of statistics, calculus, accounting and law

3. A passion for what economics is all about. (This may be the most important, you have to have a passion for this, other wise you will be discouraged by all the math that the curriculum will throw at you. Economics is exciting, but you have to keep in mind some of it will be more boring but this is your foundation so dont give up.)

4. Maybe a masters or Ph.D depending on your goals.

I recommend reading books like Freakonomics, The Armchair Economist, The Naked Economist and the other everyday economics books to really make the material exciting. Steven Levitt the Chicago Ph.D economist takes the subject and really makes it interesting.

Remember that economics is about setting up a tool box, you have to have skills to get the job done. This means you need to also have an interest in more than just economics unless you just plan to teach it.

Check out http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos055.htm it will give you a lot more info about everything to do with the field and application of being an economist.

I hope this helped.

If 1 in a million Americans are terrorists, then there are over 300. Groups like the KKK were terrorists. Arguably the US Government is terroristic: In 2001 almost 3 000 people were murdered by Al Qaeda. Are there any colleges in Florida that offers free tuition for residents?

I personally do not know of any colleges or universities that offer free tuition for residents, and I do not believe any exist. However, if this is the case, this does not mean you cannot go to a college or university. There is financial aid (federal and state grants) for students who qualify. In addition, there may be in-house scholarships available. To take it even further, there are also scholarships offered by many private organizations to include the corporate sector. To put it bluntly, everyone can go to college if they really want to, no matter what their financial circumstances are. A good place to start is at your home county community college. Stop in and request an application and all admissions information. Ask if you can speak with an enrollment specialist (Admissions Counselor) who will be able to guide you through the process. After this, go to the Financial Aid department within the school and ask to speak to a Financial Aid counselor. You will find there are many possibilities and opportunities for you.

What is mean by an AA degree?

AA stands for Associates in Arts degree.

Associate degrees fall into three main areas.

• Associates of Arts (AA)

• Associates of Science (AS)

• Associates of Applied Science (AAS)

Each of the above degrees is designed to be completed after two years of study. However to complete the degree within two years, the student must take the program as prescribed within the schools curriculum layout. In addition, most every Community College requires that every incoming student be placement tested before they register for their first semester (unless they fall into an exemption category). This test is not an Admissions Test and has no bearing on a student's acceptance to the college. In fact, students are already accepted to the school before they take the test. It is not a test that is passed or failed, but simply to determine whether an individual needs to take some refresher courses before entering the college level courses. This is to ensure the student has the appropriate basic skills to succeed at the college level.

The test is broken down into four parts; two parts English and two parts Mathematics. The English includes Grammar (sentence sense), and Reading Comprehension. The Math includes Computation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, fractions, square roots, and percentages), and the equivalent of a high school Algebra I. If the student scores low in any these areas, then they will be required to enroll in the indicated remedial course/s starting with their first semester. Thus, the two year degree plan may turn into a two and a half year, or possibly a three year plan depending on how much remedial work is needed. To limit this time, students have the option to enroll in summer session courses.

Now let us look at the inherent differences between the degrees:

Associates of Arts (AA)

The Associates of arts is really designed as a fully transferable degree to a four year college or university for those pursing a Bachelors degree. It serves to complete most of the four year institutions general education cluster area, which amounts to the first two years of a four year program. It also serves to complete any perquisite courses needed for the four year institutions curriculum major and minor requirements. Students are admitted to Junior level status provided they have completed the matching associate's level degree. In other words, Business AA to Business BA, Engineering AS, to Engineering AS etc. Thus, within this degree students will be required to have a well rounded educational foundation to include, English literature, history, social science, laboratory science, humanities, math, communications, etc. These courses are in addition to the student's major field of study.

Associates of Science (AS)

Within the AS degrees a student will notice there are less general education requirements, and more career oriented course work. You will find this in curriculums to include, Nursing, Engineering, some Computer Science and Allied Heath fields. Still, these programs should be fully transferable to four year institutions provided the degree matches that of the four year college or university's program of study, as mentioned above under AA degrees.

Associates in Applied Science (AAS)

The AAS degrees are very career oriented and designed to give the student all the expertise needed for entry level positions upon completion of the degree. Therefore, the student will notice most of the AAS degree is made up of professional phase courses particular to a specific field, and a very limited number of general education courses. This has promoted the myth, that all AAS degrees are not transferable to four year colleges and universities. I will admit, as the degree was originally designed; transferability was not the original intent of this type of degree. Therefore many AAS degree fields of study did not transfer to four year institutions very well. In fact, in some categories it was almost like starting over. Today this is not so. Community Colleges today have what is known as Joint Admissions or Dual Admissions articulations with four year institutions, where if the student completes the agreed upon program of study successfully, the four year institution will take the degree full faith in credit and grant the student Junior level status. This includes AAS degrees. However, it is strongly recommended that a student who is seeking to transfer to a four year institution at a later date, make an appointment with a Transfer Counselor at the Community College for the pros and cons of AAS transfer as well as and more detailed information.

How many credit hours are needed for an associates degree in art from Ohio?

The associates degree is designed as a two year program of study as a full-time student provided the student takes the degree as prescribed by the college, and provided the student does not require prerequisite coursework as a result of basic skills testing. There are some programs of study that may take a bit longer depending on the number of credits required. Usually these are programs within the health related fields. In addition, for students who require developmental course work as a result of basic skills testing, it would take longer. How much longer would depend on the extent of the developmental courses they are required to take. Evidently, those individuals who attend college on a part-time based would also extend their time in school. How much longer would depend on the credit load carried each semester. Typically, an associates degree takes between 60 and 64 credits to complete depending on the specific school, program of study, and state mandates.

How can a foreign physical therapist graduate become a physical therapist in the US?

I assume you are a foreign medical school graduate? First, make sure that your education is recognized in the US as being from an accredited institution.

If so, you would have to take and pass Part II of the National Boards. Then, you would be able to apply to numerous Medical School residency programs based on your field of interest. Seek counsel either from your medical school advisor or discuss the matter with an advisor at a Medical School near your home town. The programs that are looking for residency trainees are usually the primary care specialties (FP, GP, internal medicine, and pediatrics). We have too many sub-specialists in the medical field at this time.
