You need to get/buy license for these and need to install these separately. - Neeraj Sharma Many new computers and laptops come with a trial version Office installed which can be licensed for a fee. In this case you simply follow the instructions that will pop up when your trial period expires. If you don't have the trial version installed or you wish to get another version:
In order to install Word and Excel (both are part of Microsoft' Office Suite) you will need to buy Word and Excel seperately (not cost efficient) or together in "Office". Office comes in several configurations, so check them all out online at Microsoft.com and decide which one meets your needs first. After you have bought the version of software you need, then installing them is straightforward. Simply close all other applications you may have running, insert the CD or DVD that Office comes on. A window will pop up that begins the install process. Just follow instructions from there. (If the window doesn't pop up, then simply go to "My Computer" and click on the CD/DVD drive icon. This should start the process if the installation disc is inserted.)

Is a mac computer better than a dell?
not really. i think, actually that dell is better, when buying a computer. Although, apple's computer is a good one, it has a lot of hidden fees and you have to buy a certain everything and it just ends up costing more. For less money, in the end dell is better.
But on the other hand... I think, actually, that Apple is better. Apple's computers are good ones and they have no hidden fees; such as antivirus software and general maintenance costs associated with cheaper computers. In the end an Apple costs less and retains its value when you come to sell it - compare prices of secondhand Dells and equivalent secondhand Apples.
At this point ASUS is NO1 because they make the motherboards for most other makes, they also make the best gaming parts. So you know that when you buy a laptop from them you know you are getting high quality parts.

The term "Mhz" stands for Megahertz, where hertz is the number of cycles per second, and Mega equals 1 000 000 (one million). Therefore, 800Mhz is 800x1000 cycles per second.
The term Mhz is commonly applied in computers. For example, a 800Mhz Processor has 800 000 cycles/second and this is its computing speed.. In comparison, a common 2.3Ghz processor is much faster because it has 2 300 000 cycles/second.
Creating any circuit will result in a flow of current, however, if the load is an inductive load, like a transformer, motor, etc., then a higher current will flow initially as the magnetic field around the windings must be created before any useful work can make use of said magnetic effect. This can be significant. A general rule of thumb for start up current is about 5 times operating current. Therefore, cables, fuses, etc, in fact the whole circuit needs to be designed to handle this higher level even though it may occur for a relatively short period.
Computers are built from many individual pieces of hardware. This applies to laptops, net books, and desktops. Tablets are slightly different, consisting of an LCD screen surrounded by a plastic casing.

Cheapest good laptop in the world?
Cheapest good laptop is a matter of oppinion.
For under $400, the lenovo G530-444623U or the COMPAQ Presario CQ60-215DX are nice.
A little over $600, theres the Acer Aspire AS6530-5753
For under $1300, the Quad-Core HP Pavilion dv7-2040us is probably your best option.
For under $2000, the Toshiba Qosimo line is pretty amazing.
Anything over that its pretty much entirely up to your needs.
You can buy a Mac, but if performance to price ratio is of any concern to you, you can always find a windows-based PC twice as fast and be cheaper. If you're planning on spending a certain amount of cash, it would be smart to look at the absolute fastest one. And the absolute fastest one for your dollar hasn't been a mac since the 1980's.
infernosheep: Do not buy dell, they are so cheap. they break so quickly and the customer service is bad. you should avoid buying dell computers. invest in something else, save your time, money and hassle.
Overpriced.
Dells are one of the worst places to buy a computer from. It has one of the highest markups in the industry. Usually, the only ones with higher markup are "pre-assembled gaming rigs" such as Alienware (Which Dell actually owns) and Macs. Their lower priced computers are a few months to years behind their competition's. Their high performance computers have a much higher price tag than a self built or that of a competitor's.
Dell also has a disappointing tech support. Don't expect much more than someone in India reading off a manual when you have a problem.
If you do want a new computer, stay away from Dell and get something from a more or less neutral shopping website.
I have a dell and it is THE worst computer I've ever had in my life. I get unfixable viruses on it, due to windows files able to be edited by the virus (which is a problem other computers don't have, and is also the programmer's mistake). If you do get a virus it attaches itself to a windows file, so when you get a virus protector and it finds the virus, it will delete the entire system file. The next time you restart your computer, you no longer have a computer and you have to do a complete system restore. When this happens you lose everything on your computer. EVERYTHING. You then need to do a complete system restore. When you get your windows system back up, you have a completely clean computer. There's nothing on it. You need to separately download important graphic and video drivers, and drivers that allow you to connect to the internet. Right now I am trying to find an Ethernet driver because this is exactly what happened to me about 3 hours ago for the 2nd time in 3 months. It's happened about 4 times now. Those Cd's that Dell's computer comes with, the ones that download drivers, half of them don't work at all. So I tried to call Dell up to see if they could tell me which drivers I needed just so I could have internet on my computer. I got an Indian woman who barely spoke English. She kept asking me for the express service code. In failing attempts to understand me she transferred me to the wrong service department. I got a nice man who asked me for the same code. I gave it to him, and when I told him my name, he said he couldn't help me because
1) It was the wrong department.
2) The computer wasn't under my company name (wtf)
He also said the right service department probably couldn't help me either for that last reason. I asked him why he couldn't just tell me which driver I needed and he said "because how would you like it if someone stole your computer and asked us for help. YOU wouldn't want us to give them help." How many people in the world sell and trade computers?? How many computers in the world isn't under the original buyer's name?? And how on Earth is that relevant to at all?? So what, now Dell has a nice little moral code that only helps.. hmm, 40% of their customers? Dells are going to be traded, and it's going to be to poor unsuspecting people who don't know enough about computers to know that a Dell is ABSOLUTELY horrible.
A different perspective:
While a small amount of info provided by the pervious answerer is true, Most of it is false. Dell is a good computer for the money and for the performance. And with in comparison to other manufacturers, Dell has the better support response and time to client. This is still poor, but it is the best in the industry. Remember, most people that have to call any tech support for issues and problems with their system, are usually upset and thus, at that moment, any computer would be considered a piece of junk! As far as price, it would depend on what you need it for. You can't just simply buy a Dell from Wal-Mart and expect it to game out of the box. These are usually pre-configured for work, homework and Internet access. If you have a desire for a gamer, as with any computer, you should customize it via the web site of the target computer you are looking for. As for the " India" tech support, this is true to a point. Almost every computer manufacture, as well as software maker, has an Indian tech screening system. If you need parts replaced, then they will transfer you to a Second tier support person, usually (most of the time) in the US. Don't let the previous information dissuade your choice in a Dell. They are descent computers and laptops.

What is an external drive bay?
When referencing a computer case design, an external drive bay is one that is accessible from outside the computer, such as a drive bay that houses an optical drive (CD or DVD). An internal drive bay is not accessible from outside the computer, such as a bay that houses a hard drive. There is no need to have physical access to the hard drive so it does not need a "door to the outside" like a CD or DVD drive.

Which is better toshiba or hp laptops?
Pretty much it's just the label and the support, the difference in the actual products and pricing are barely noticeable.
I've heard good things about both HP and Toshiba support, Toshiba you take it to your local approved technician and HP you take it to the store and they ship it to headquarters and fix it.
Personally I'd choose Toshiba, but it's all about personal preference, they're practically the same.
Whichever you like better.
How much does a good laptop cost?
It depends on what you're planning on using it for. In general, though, a "good" laptop should have the following stats: Memory: 2 GB Processor: Dual Core (almost any clock speed is probably OK), Intel Pentium V or Celeron (around 2 GHz) Hard Drive: 120 GB DVD/CD RW If you're buying one new, it'll probably be around $500-$600. However, if you look on sites like NewEgg or do a Google product search, you may be able to find a great deal on a refurbished laptop. These can come almost brand new and cut the price down towards $400.00.
