There are several different lights on a typical motherboard, each meaning different things. Different colors also usually indicate different types of status (e.g. green informational, red problems). If you can get the manual for that motherboard there will be a list identifying the meaning of each LED.

Most likely an LED that you have never seen light up when the machine worked but now lights up is indicating a low level hardware failure that prevents operation.

I have a desktop computer that has 7 or 8 LEDs on its motherboard, although all of them are red LEDs the manual identifies all but one as informational status lights, the remaining one which is slightly offset from the line of the others is identified as "fatal hardware error" and if it lights at any time the computer cannot operate in any way.

Depends on what they used if you remove the CPU heatsink you mite have to remove the CPU with it. If the heatcontact was a glue type then u cant without removeing the proccesor

You could try using a electrical save spray lubricant, like Silicone. Please do not use WD-40, since it could cause a short circuit on you keyboard.

First thing is to determine if it is actually the monitor and not your video card. Try downloading the latest drivers for your video card and monitor and see if it clears it up if not I would try another monitor on your computer and see if it still does it on the other monitor,if so then its the video card that's causing the lights(you already tried the latest driver so its probably gone bad try contacting the maker and see if they will replace it if your warenty is still good(sometimes they will replace it anyway). if not then its probably gonna mean buying another monitor(is it a crt or a flat screen?) if its a crt or a big heavy deep cased monitor sometimes when the capacitors are going out you can hit the side of the monitor case (not too hard) and see if it changes anything. If you see any changes in the picture when you hit the side of the crt monitor that's probably the problem and you will need to buy a new one most likely because it would be more expensive to fix it.(hitting a flat screen monitor isn't a good idea though).

If you ever open a computer mouse with a scroll wheel, there is a possibility that the spring that supports the scroll wheel will fall out. That can be frustrating and confusing. Usually, the coil part of the spring goes on the shaft of the mouse wheel. Often, the shaft is longer on that side to make room for the spring. There should be places for the projections to go on the same side as the longer part of the shaft goes. It may take a bit of trial and error until you figure it out.

Solid State memory is the memory use in flash drives and memory cards for cameras, cell phones, etc. Now, this technology is also being used right now in hard drives, even thought they still really expensive, the reading and writing speed are way better than the current hard drive technology, plus they last longer since they are microchips and don't use any moving parts. Eventually solid state hard drives are going to substitute the current mechanical hard drives that we now use.

This could very. For example the one on my plain jane computer is rated at 400watts, where as the one in my gaming rig is rated at 1200watts. If its a computer you built, then checking the site of the manufacture of the PSU or Power supply would tell you. If its a computer that you purchased at a store or online, check out the manufacutures website. Both would give you an idea of how big the PSU is in your computer

Alternate Characters on keyboard are the special characters which can be typed in by pressing and holding Alt key (Alternate Key ) followed by the numerical sequence. The alt key can get stuck either physically or you might have got the Sticky Keys on. Which will make the alt key being pressed. Go to control panel and then keyboard . You will find sticky keys under one of the tabs. Turn them off. You might also have changed the font from Arial or Times Roman ( Roman Characters ) to other symbolic font. So go ahead and change it.
