When you log on to your PC you haven't got a start bar and no icons on your desktop but you can get up your internet and windows messenger so how do you do a reset on your computer to delete everythin?

Sometimes the start bar "hides". Take the mouse pointer all the way to the bottom. Press and hold the left mouse button and drag the border up. After it's showing again. put the mouse pointer in the middle of an unused section of the bar, click the RIGHT mouse button then click on "lock the taskbar", that way it won't hide again.

Can viruses get in when removable discs are formatted?

Yes, but they will need to be launched once they are on the removable device. This can only happen one of two ways. Either you must run it yourself, or it must be automatically started. You would not try running a random file on a newly-formatted drive which should be empty, and the only way the system will automatically run the virus is if it is instructed to do so in a file called autorun.inf on the disk. If there is one, just right-click on it, and select edit. Look down the list, and make sure that the "run" entries, if there are any, don't refer to anything odd. If you don't find anything odd, then if there is an infection on the disk from formatting, it is trapped.

How can you remove the Trojan horse Dropper Small 5 J from C system volume information restore when WinXP refuses access to delete it?

I was infected when I downloaded a small program called FreeCorder to record in mpg format. McAfee didn't recognize it when I was scanning it directly. The free AVG by grisoft found it, but couldn't handle it. I had to format my drive the first time and lose everything.

I have the full version of AVG E-trust antivirus. When detected I did a complete scan and wiped the file. This is the second Trojan horse file in less than a month the last was the Dropper.VB.DD and E-Trust had no problem.. No I don't have any connestion to Grissoft E-Trust. Good luck

Pete

How do you remove ursnif virus?

Unfortunately, most online antivirus programs CANNOT successfully remove this virus. It attaches itself to the winlogon.exe process, which is required for Windows to run, and so you will need to clean the system in an OFFLINE state.

What does that mean?

It means you're going to need to boot the system off of a recovery CD -- I prefer the "Ultimate Boot CD for Windows" -- and repair the system that way, so that the version of winlogon.exe on the hard drive is not in use, and you can copy in a "clean" one easily.

Can you get a virus from beemp3?

It depends. If your get a virus it will be from the site Beemp3 found it on. Beemp3 is just an mp3 search engine. Whenever I download from there, I check out the site it was found on first, and then decide whether or not it looks risky. I've been kind of afraid of downloading newer music, because I think sites with viruses are targeting newer music lovers, as they're the ones who use the internet more. But when I wanna listen to the Doors or the Jefferson Airplane I feel a little more safe downloading the music. Just check out the site the mp3 is from, and decide for yourself. You could also enter the URL of the site into AVG's website scanner, but the only way something can show up is if someone else has already reported it. It's risky, but if your smart about it, and you have AVG or Trend Micro Titanium, you should be fine.

How do you get rid of downloader.agent.5.E?

I was able to remove this with Security Task Manager - I just downloaded a trial to see what running processes I didn't recognize. AVG found the virus but didn't remove it (I didn't try AVG in safe mode.)

I found this Trojan through AVG, which identified it. I reasoned that I had to stop the processing of the downloader, so I went to the task manager (ctrl-alt-del) to make the program stop. Then I went to the search function and located the program. Once I found the full location of the program, I opened up the folder and physically searched for the program. When I found the executable program, I removed it. I emptied the trash. I re-scanned the system and found that the Trojan was removed.
