What is the spark plug gap for a 1996 Ford Contour 4 cylinder?
1.13 mm or .050 That's the gap my plugs are running at on my '95 Zetec (Motorcraft plugs)
After looking at the caliper attachment bolts(?) with a mirror and a flashlight, I realized that I needed a Allen attachment. Obtained a 7mm Allen socket tool which fit perfectly. Job was done in 30 minutes.
Don't know what would have happened if I had used a Torx fitting. Expect that it would have just slipped as though I had stripped the Bolt.
What does a green light that reads O-D Off mean on a 1996 Ford Contour?
It means your overdrive is off. On my ford truck there is a button on the end of the gear shift that you push in to turn it on or off. You can check your owners manual to find out where it is on your car. This is what it shifts into on the highway to help you get better gas milage. You have probably hit something and turned it off.
If you severely overheated the engine, the cylinder heads or intake manifold may either have warped or blown their gaskets. This creates among other things a vacuum leak which will cause the idle speed motor/solenoid to go crazy.
It is common for condensation to accumulate in the evaporator core and cause an odor. There are air freshoners that can be sprayed through the fresh air intake and help sometimes. Contact the ford dealer.
It could be because the bulb is burned out ot he wire is disconnected.
Where is the sun or moonroof motor located in a 1998 Ford Contour?
It is inside the same housing as the sunroof switch.
Use a small bladed screwdriver to pry downwards in the very center of the front of the lamp - there's a small spring clip up there to press against.
Once the front has been released, use the screwdriver to pry in the center of the backside of the lamp.
With the lamp out of the way, you can now see 2 Phillips screws at the front of the cover - take those out, the entire cover comes loose from the headliner.
DO NOT PULL AGAINST THE COVER - the plastic around the 2 mounting screws are very fragile and will break rather easily!
NOTE: if you have a sunroof motor that is just clicking/grinding, this is a common failure of an internal plastic/nylon gear. See "Related Link" below for a source of the gear ($55!) - and a photo tutorial on getting at the motor and repairing it.
Because humans over populate it and destroy everything - similar to a virus !
