sounds like the fuel pump is starting to go bad try turning the key one but not starting the engine then off then back on a couple of times then start the engine if this works then your fuel pump could be going bad

The answer given is to remove tie rod ends... You need to get a ball joint press to remove them. Its not a hard job, but I would recommend getting a haynes or chiltons manual that can show you the process step by step

I would advise you to mark the threds on the rod . Each ot the ball joints will be held by a nut with a carter pin remove the pin and losen the muts and screw the the ball joint off of the shaft and replace the new one to the place where you have marked the the new ball joints should come with new pins and nuts

I would further advise to change the entire lower control arm which last i did one (last week) only cost around 65 bucks, this includes the ball joint and bushings on the arm. much better investment and ultimately easier to do (no ball joint press needed)

the first step to timing the fe 390 is to locate the timing marks on the damper mark tdc with nailpolish a bright collor works best next locate 6 degrease before tdc remove number one spark plug this is the front spark plug on the pasinger side install compresion gauge rotate damper until comresion showes on gauge tdc mark should be close continue rotation to tdc remove dist cap note direction rotor is pointing this will be the place that you instale #1 plug wire on the dist cap instale the rest of the leads in the order stamped on your intake manifold install cap disconect vac adv and plug instale spark plug losen hold down on dist crank engine over turn dist slowly left and right untile engine fires and runs further timing may be done with a light

There was a contest to name the car somewhere in the 50's to mid 50's. Mom said she was about 7yrs or 8yrs old. My great grandmother Joe Lee Thomas (having a Indian / Afro American heritage ) thought up name name Thunderbird and submitted it. The winner was to receive a cash award of more that $500.(The exact amount I'm not sure.) The name she chose had won. Fairly simple...first drain gas if you can..if not carefully lower the gas tank...but remember the tank will be heavy....I did the job slowly and it took me around four hours.....dirty work and I had to complete the job laying upside down on my drive way....I found the diffult part of the job for me was to disconnect and re-connect the various hoses hooked to the tank...they were a bit stubborn.....also kind of hard to reach...but if you take your time and make mental notes to where everything goes...it is not a hard job....

on any vehicle with air bags the system must be disabled before you work on the electrical system. A premature discharge of the airbag would be not only disasterous but expensive. Bags deploy at approx 200 mph. Take care when removing the clock spring that you dont change the clocking. If this happens you wont be able to turn the steering wheel as far in one direction as the other, at least til the ribbon cable breaks inside it.

disconnect neg batt cable, raise front of vehicle on jack stands, remove wiring from starter, remove 2 retaining bolts on starter attached to passenger side where transmission meets engine, lower starter. install in reverse order.

you can't lower it out. not enough space. you need to remove the gravel guard in the front and get it out that way. it will still be a tight fit. i had to remove a "shroud" from the side of the starter before getting it out. good luck.

I can't answer the headlight question but I do know that the Turbo didn't have a grill on the front but the LX did. The differences between the two are as follows: Turbo has adjustable/selectable suspension, LX no. Turbo has 16" wheels, LX no. Turbo has a 4 cylinder engine, LX mostly had V8s.

In answering the question, "Why does a car start, but not run?", I have no information on year or make. If the car has a 12 volt system and is a pre-computer model, a likely answer would be due to a faulty ballast resister in the ignition system. The ballast resister is wired to the positive side of the ignition coil. When the engine is cranking, full battery voltage is applied to the coil primary winding to provide the hottest possible spark for the plugs. Once the engine begins to run, voltage is applied to the ballast side of the resistor, reducing applied voltage to the primary circuit, thus prolonging life of coil and distributor points. This explains why the engine will start but cut off as soon as the key is returned to the run position. To prove the diagnosis, a simple trick is to run a small jumper wire from the positive terminal of the battery to the plus side of the ignition coil. If the engine starts and continues to run, the ballast resister needs to be replaced.

I had the same problem with a 1985 Lincoln Mk VII. After getting the car back that was loaned out (sigh)

Anyway, in this case one of the 2 "1/2 moon grabbers" had been shoved all the way into the lock assy, so that it looked like the toung had been broken off. I removed the lock assy from the door (much easier to do after heating the screw heads with a tourch due to the lock-tight used), placed it into a bench vice, and was able to use flat headed screw drivers of different sizes to pry the latch back open. I have no idea how it finally squezed through the very tight space left, but there was just enough for it to open as it should have.

I then noticed that most of the lube was a semi-solid mass, so I cleaned the lock assy with "CRC Break Clean" then used "CRC Spray White Lithium Greese" to relube all parts, now it latched and opens with no problem. I still have 3 of the linkages to correctly place bbetween the lock assy & the various latchs, but the lock is no longer stuck.

Some advise for you, try to use the screwdriver tricks before removing the lock assy, to safe yourself many hours of frustration in diss-assembly and re-assembly (like the fun I am having during our 3 hours of sun before the rains start up again, here in the Pacific North Wet.

All that's left is to adjust the door which needs to be lifted about 1/4 inch so that the stud on the post aligns with the lock in the door for easy closing.

Your car is equipped with a chip that will interrupt fuel when your vehicle reaches the designated speed rating of the original tires, probably 109 mph. There are charts you can find online that show the corresponding ratings, eg v rating is 139 mgh and z rated tires are for over 139

I had that problem with mine and it was the bearings going out in the alternater. So try replaceing the alt.

Mark driveshaft, splinced shaft at front of shaft, and rear yoke to ensure that it is replaced at the same position to maintain factory balance

Remove and discard small "u" bolts at the differential yoke

Pry driveshaft out of yoke and up onto to splines at rear of transmission

Drop driveshaft

Pull driveshaft off of splined end of transmission

Use new "u" bolts on installation
