In my opinion,most ghosts aren't scary. They're just human, but dead. However, they can still be scary. First of all, some ghosts were horrible, cruel people in life and stayed that way after their death. Those are the ghosts who are more likely to hurt people. What makes that worse is that most people cannot see them nor can they kill them. Also the ghosts that aren't even human, aka daemonic, are definitely worth being scared of, but they are least likely to encounter. Unless things are really creepy, don't worry about ghosts. Like I said, they're mostly human.

I may be laughed off of WA for this, but there is a story in the Bible about women who did just that. They weren't referred to as "ghosts," however. Read it for yourself in Genesis chapter 6. Here is verse 4:

Gen 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

The term "sons of God" is used in other verses in the Bible to refer to angels. Demons, according to the Bible, are fallen angels. Genesis 6 indicates that one of the reasons that God sent the flood that Noah survived on the ark, was because of these illicit relationships that these women were having with demons.

What humans now call "ghosts" the Bible calls demons or evil spirits. They are not disembodied humans, they are angels who sinned and are now following Satan.

Well, I wouldn't go as far as saying a house can be possessed, but I can tell you that poltergeists through things around, open doors or shut them, and do all sorts of crazy things that could look like the house in Monster House. But poltergeists cant make a house have a face or teeth like in the movie. A poltergeist could drag you back into the house, but the house itself wont move to eat you.

People are often saddened by the loss of a loved one or they are bored and wish so much for something supernatural that they will believe in them. Depending on the level of energy (like if the spirt doesn't know its dead, it will have a lower energy than that of an angry one) some you can't feel at all while others can actually touch you, and it feels like an alive person is.
