If you happen to get a hamster bite, disenfect it and wrap a piece of cloth tightly around it to stop any bleeding. Hamster only usually bite if being handled roughly or if you approch them when the don't expect it.

Why do dwarf hamsters vibrate when held?
It could mean three things:
1. The hamster is excited. The hamster is being taken to somewhere else, out of his cage! New smells! New places to hide! He is vibrating with anticipation.
2. The hamster is frightened. The hamster might have been dropped before when it was being held. He might be thinking, "Put me back in the cage! PLEASE PLEASE!"
3. The hamster is cold. This rarely happens, but if it is shivering, it means it needs to sleep and "regenerate" some warmth. Don't bring short-haired hamsters in the snow or rain! It could freeze to death!

I agree with the person above. If you are getting a divorce that should be the end of all sexual things (no kissing, no sex, no sleeping together (even if you aren't doing anything)).

Syrian hamsters come in different colourings, Russians are mainly whites and greys whereas syrians are usually browns, blacks or blondes. Syrians are much larger and display a very different temprament.

AnswerRussian Dwarfs have a dark stripe down there back and are half the size of a Syrain hamster. They are less friendly apparently but i wouldn't worry about that, i have a male dwarf called Nuggets and he let me hold him within a week. They are harder to handle than Syrians simply because they're smaller. They nip more, mine likes chewing my fingers but it doesn't really hurt. It means it feels uncomfortable. With hamsters, biting is used as self defence. I had a hamster, and when I first got him he bit me a lot. The proper way to deal with this is the following:
1) Hold him every day to make him feel secure (Make sure you are carrying all of his legs).
2) When he bites you stay calm and don't freak out, just try again (Screaming will scare the hamster even more).
3) DON'T STICK YOUR FINGER IN HIS CAGE!
4) Cages are a hamster's home, so he may bite you. It's like a giant broke into your home and tried to lift you out of it. So try step 2 and eventually that hamster will get used to you.
