What causes pride?

Pride is caused from a lack of realistic perspective about ourselves. A realistic perspective of ourselves is : " We are flawed, immoral individuals." On our very best day we aren't good enough to earn God's gift of eternal life. We may seem like we are doing good or even great, but must realize that God's ways are higher than our ways and his thoughts higher than our thoughts. We become prideful when we lose sight of our sinful nature. Looking to Jesus and the redemptive work of the cross we can remind ourselves that it is only through the cross we become worthy of God's grace.

What is a conditioned behavior?

Conditioned behavior is a type of learned behavior where an individual's actions are influenced by environmental cues and past experiences. It occurs when a particular response becomes more or less likely based on the consequences that follow it, leading to changes in behavior over time. Examples of conditioned behavior include classical conditioning (Pavlov's dogs) and operant conditioning (skinner's box).

The best predictor of future behaviour is past behavior?

Behavior is indicative of the mind's processes and actions. To say "the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior" does not consider that people evolve and hopefully learn from their mistakes. While It is true that the vast majority of people are hamsters on their treadmill of life, many people are able to make great changes.

What is motivation hygiene theory?

This theory classifies the factors needed to motivate people into two categories: hygiene factors and motivating factors. Hygiene factors are necessary for motivation but not sufficient; they do not bring satisfaction, but they prevent dissatisfaction. Some examples are compensation; company policies; level of supervision or ownership of the assigned work; relationship with superiors, subordinates, and peers; and working conditions. Motivating factors are factors that bring (or increase) job satisfaction. Some examples are challenging work assignment, opportunity for career advancement and accomplishments, opportunity for growth, sense of responsibility, and recognition.

How do you determin if someone is retarded?

The term "retarded" is considered outdated and offensive. Instead, it's important to focus on understanding a person's individual strengths and challenges through proper assessments and evaluations conducted by qualified professionals, such as psychologists, to determine if they have any intellectual or developmental disabilities. Using person-first language and respectful terminology is crucial in fostering inclusive and respectful communication.

How you see your personality?

Some people use mirror-self image which is when you percieve what someone thinks about you by observing their body language and or facial expressions. But you have to be sure your not taking it the wrong way. When you see how others percieve you then think about what you are doing for them to have that opinion and work with it. Sooner or later you will be able to notice exactly how you look towards others and how your personality makes you look. As we all know, or need to understand anyway, personality makes your looks.

When you are an alcoholic are you always an alcoholic?

There is a lot of controversy over this issue. The best information seems to indicate that people can recover from the physical effects of alcoholism if they stop drinking soon enough, but that some of the changes that take place in the brain during the process of alcohol addiction will remain. If that is the case, "recovered" alcoholics who drink are risking a rapid return of the addiction.

We need also to consider the psychological aspects of someone's wanting to have a drink when they have already seen what can happen. One could argue that such people have to be especially careful, since they are not committed to sobriety to begin with. Of course, denial being what it is, they will be the first to argue the point.

This is complicated to some degree by the variables among individuals. The best advice is to stay away from alcohol completely if it has previously caused problems in your life. The possible price of taking it up again is too high to pay.

Why it wrong to steal?

Because it violates the notion of private property.

Basically, if something is MINE it cannot become YOURS unless I give it to you. It cannot become yours unless I concede ownership to you, and you then assume ownership of said "thing.". In other words, in a 2-person, mutually exclusive system contending over one resource, both people must agree on who the owner is at any one time... or else it breaks mutual exclusivity.

In the three state case, either person A, person B, or neither person hold the resource. Both can't hold it at the same time.

The rules for assuming ownership of something unowned are debatable (you may need to ask permission from anyone else who may want it) but generally, if no one owns it, you can take it. However, most wouldn't consider that stealing.

One way you will promote the individuality of the people you support?

When they try something new that pleases themselves, congratulate them and push your real thoughts aside if you have to. After all it's what they want that matters!

If you truly don't like their style, you can still praise them for their boldness or their creativity. If you don't like their choices, you can still affirm their right to make their own choices, and you can celebrate their autonomy.

If you want to help them develop individuality, then you can help them learn critical thinking skills, and teach them to question nearly everything. You wouldn't want to give them excessive help, since the chance to struggle teaches independence.

Excessive praise is not the best when it comes to developing creativity in others, since that teaches dependence. The most creative people get their reward from whatever activity itself. If you do an art to please others, then you can get pulled into a trap of being a crowd pleaser, and the art suffers for it. People criticize pop stars for sounding alike or turning out "junk," and this may be why. The fame turns them into business people rather than artists.

How does personality effect motivation?

Personality can affect motivation by influencing the types of goals someone sets, their level of persistence in pursuing those goals, and the strategies they use to achieve them. For example, individuals high in conscientiousness may be more motivated to work toward long-term goals, while those high in extraversion may be more motivated by social rewards. Personality traits can also influence how individuals respond to setbacks and challenges, ultimately impacting their overall level of motivation to achieve their goals.

Do widows wear rings?

MORE OPTIONS: What is a Widow's Ring?As a widow, none of the alternative "ring" ideas resonated with how I felt. I felt the answer was to have a 3rd ring, a ring that completed the story told on my finger, a ring specific to my new normal.

My solution was to design and make available a collection called "Widows Ring".

Widows from all over the world have found healing and comfort in these designs and the rings have made a difference in their lives.

"Expressions of Grief by Diane" has stainless steel rings that are contemporary mourning ring designs that can be worn all the time with no special care.

There is also a design patent for the "Broken Heart" setting. A ring that acknowledges that grief leaves a broken heart in its wake.

A spinning Prayer Wheel ring with the words "ALWAYS IN MY HEART & SOUL" and/or "The Serenity Prayer" allows survivors to "move forward" without the guilt and "fear of forgetting.

When I first began designing rings for widows, I knew that just as each journey is different, the widows ring designs would also speak to each person differently at different stages of our journey.

What I did not realize - the rings would not be transition rings, but would be worn for longer than the traditional year. I am switching many designs to steel as they wear much longer than precious metal or plated jewelry.

New steel designs coming are the "Forget-Me-Knot-" a new "Dark Winding Journey" ring and the "Broken Heart". And that should complete the collection.
